Pattaya picks up forgotten trash

image.png

Pattaya sent extra trucks and equipment to pick up residual trash left behind by careless trash collectors on three area beaches.

Work crews were deployed Feb. 22 to Pattaya, Jomtien and Wong Amat beaches after numerous complaints that the city’s regular trash collector failed to pick up all the garbage.

Litter and other illegally dumped waste also was collected from Sukhumvit Soi 19, the Chumsai Community, Chaiyapornwitee Road and Pattaya City School 6. (PCPR)

I must say ,since the beach rejuvenation in Pattaya , I have seen 4 or 5 thais and foriengers p/u trash on the sand ,daily near soi1 and beach rd .also the point under the Dusit ,has had a huge dragline/crane lifting and placing panels of large rocks, which have been tethered inside a heavy wire mesh ,about 30ftx15ft in size..it actually looks as it may last and is much more appealing than the sand bags. the city is also adding a drainage system of sorts along beach rd on the ocean side of the footpath ,in the spots where the pathway is lowered ......

Without enforcement this dumping will continue.  Just off Kao Talo there's mounds of rubbish dumped alongside a wat!

Same same railway line bypass road which I use a lot. I rode out into the cassava fields recently to release a tookay and lo and behold, a dump site in the middle.

Many Thais litter, many years ago as I was in a taxi driving to the airport at the end of my holiday the Thai girl on my side opened the window and just threw out out a small bag of trash, when I asked her why she did that, she replied "It give poor people a chance to work".  I was stunned,

On the darkside of Pattaya, there are so many unofficial trash drop off points on the side of the road, you'd think the Thais would do something about this.
