The court recently handed down a prison sentence of 16 months to Premchai in the case of the killing of a black leopard in a national park.   Do you believe that he will actually serve time in prison?

"...Do you believe that he will actually serve time in prison?"

No.

He will delay, delay, appeal, appeal, delay, appeal the delay, delay the appeal, appeal again, delay again, appeal the delay again, delay the appeal again. Finally, he will claim to be too old to go to jail and be let off.

We have seen this too many times before to believe otherwise; if you are rich and connected, the law doesn't matter.

PS FWIW, I'd love to see him spend numerous years in the Big House...

No,but I can see the driver and cook doing some time,

he was not even charged with killing the Black Panther,

only with killing a Pheasant,he got 16 months and the driver

who probably never killed anything ,he got 4 years.

Of course he won’t. That’s been obvious from day one.

No, he won't. Yes, he definitely should.

That's one of the functions of drivers, house keepers and gardeners, the other is special bank accounts in their names.

Ah, what a laugh. He has the get out of jail free card - filthy rich. Corrupt from top to bottom - one day things will change. But not now. You have a truly democratic government, yeah, their's hope.

He’s rich and has rich friends.

He’s powerful and has powerful friends.

He ain’t going to gaol.

Should he? Definitely.

Will he? Sadly, no.

Any of us probably would on much lesser charges, but the uppity Thai with money has shown to be untouchable. :1zgarz5::coffee1:

First they said it wouldn't go to trial. It did. Then they said it would be shelved for years. It wasn't. Then they said he would get off. He didn't. Now they say he won't do time. So far score card is justice system 3, Premchai 0.

I think social media is starting to have a stronger influence on the government than in the past.   Thailand is about stability and that requires that people don't get agitated.   Letting the rich off cause a bit of social disharmony.   He may get some time, but it won't be much.
