to me this would make most sense if the same คับ is used in both halves of the expression.

ie.

คับที่ อยู่ได้

When space is tight, it can be borne

คับใจ อยู่ยาก

When one feels restrained or uneasy, it's harder to bear

I can stay in a place that is (physically) tight -fitting.

Staying in a place where I feel distressed (mentally tight-fitting) is difficult
