Police claim they have sufficient evidence against Thanathorn

Deflection, obfuscation, and complete nonsense. Utter desperation on the part of the army. Seems they will stoop to any level to maintain their power. One can only hope the Thai people figure out a way to get rid of them. The incompetence and lack of concern for the average Thai is mind boggling.

  • It is quite obvious the men in uniform who are responsible for the biased and authoritarian rules of this country have no intention of passing their control to civilians. The repression continues.

For all the pervasive lying that forms a key part of Thai culture (saving face, ect), they are such poor liars.    Total clowns and lie like adolescent children

"democracy."

If "fabricated" was between "have" and "sufficient"....I would tend to believe that headline.

So sad that this country does not want to get better.

The psuedo-elite certainly do not want it to, and, I also blame most regular Thais for wanting to be as much like them as possible. They are all complicit in a failed country.

The evidence being the large number of votes he got.

A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, through elected/not appointed representatives.

????

"….they are simply performing their duty""

Better chalk that one up - must be a new idea.

Of course the police have been investigating this incident for some time. He would have been charged regardless of his current status politically or otherwise. Nothing to do with his being a thorn in the side of the junta.

Dear Mr PM,

I believe in the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, and Father Xmas - so should I believe in the above, can please advise me on this matter -

I have been checking Facebook posts over a wide range of the well to do Thai urban middle class. There is a minority but an insistent theme that Thanathorn and his followers are not only "heavy on the earth: but deserve to be eliminated altogether. I will not repeat the language used but the aware among you can guess at it.

Frankly, Facebook needs to nip all this in the bud with a clampdown on statements threatening extreme violence from whatever quarter. Will there be Thais ready to tackle this issue?

No doubt it has taken some time and creativity to make up these charges and searching for any sliver of truth that could be twisted into the appearance of illegal deeds. This could easily spark action from anti junta factions that could (dare we hope) for real change.

My little finger tells me that within months the actual "Deputy National Police Chief" , will become "The Chief" of something, somewhere....????

A dirty word in Thailand, I think you need reeducation in an Army detention center.

Surely the file on the Red Bull Heir must have been higher up in the pile than the file on Thanathorn.

So when can we expect the police to do their job and issue an arrest warrant for treason to the people who staged the last coup?

But then only if it's snowing outside the Bangkok courthouse as well.

So they wait until now to go after him for a 2015 incident?  What mush is between the ears of the upper officials who are responsible for this? By waiting until now, it is VERY clear to everyone that this young man has got the corrupt powers-that-be worried that he may bring about true democratic change to Thailand, and god forbid that. It's pathetic if Thais let this crap happen without massive peaceful protests and strong words aimed at the illegal PM and his cronies, telling him that everybody's on to them and their lies.

This would be exactly the right time for the British Embassy (I speak only of my own country) to invite Thanathorn for a well publicised meeting with the Ambassador.

With Brexit looming with it's ugly head we want the good General and his cronies to buy any military surplus crap we have lying around for hard currency. Grandstanding with Khun Universe might just get in the way of that policy objective.
