Congratulations go to jumping jack coleman winner 2018.

Do i win anything being a tiger fan?

Dees are looking like they could be the dream team of 2018. You know i would shed a tear if they did win the granny.

My tigers play hawks and i think the tigers will win by 40 points. Hawks arent what they used to be without buddy boy.

Ill try and stream the celebrity match next weekend. Should be a laugh.

While rumours abound, I understand that Ross Lyons is being canvassed for pre selection in Julie Bishop’s seat of Curtain as she is still deciding whether to continue as an MP. Ross is seen as having great leadership skills and able to withstand constant knifing from the Docker’s management as well as the fans.

Its The Saint Kilda Football club in Canberra knifings going on left right and centre...Stevens for Prime Minster....

I have to duck off to the Flips next week, gut wrenching that i've watched nearly all the home and away season to likely miss the the 1st quarter starts of the finals.

Heard of that saying - if palm trees don't grow,i don't go?

Melbourne weather doesn't fit into that.

However i'm quite happy to send an instructional video to the boys at Arden street on goal kicking.

The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: AFL Round Twenty Three

By Titus O'Reily

Footy is a passion, not some cold hearted, spread sheet dominated rational exercise.

On a Monday, you want irrational reaction. You want emotion to trump reason.

What you really want is idiotic hysteria.

You’ve come to the right place.

Port Adelaide (89) v Essendon (111)

Port Adelaide put the cherry on top of their disastrous second half of the season with a performance that made you think Essendon were the ones with the chance to make finals.

It was all academic anyway considering the Cats belted the Gold Coast the next day, but Port fans would have left disappointed at the endeavour from their players.

But that’s not a new feeling for them.

The Bombers simply smashed the Power early on, motivated by the fact this was the final scene in Brendon Goddard’s long-awaited movie.

I thought Goddard’s movie probably went on a bit long but the bit with the pretzels, with Dyson Heppell’s scene-stealing part, was top notch.

Overall, I thought the movie lacked a central point though.

Both these sides will look at 2018 with a sense of regret. Essendon will look to 2019 with excitement, however, while Port will look forward not sure what’s the way ahead.

Geelong (142) v Gold Coast (40)

Geelong used the final round to conduct some light drills and sign autographs, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Even the Suns’ players seemed excited to see some real AFL players up close.

Given the Cats beat a woeful Fremantle last week, by the time they play Melbourne in the first week of finals, it will have been almost a month since they faced an AFL side.

Gold Coast finished the season an irrelevant rung on the bottom of the ladder. Only Carlton’s historically painful season stopped them securing the wooden spoon.

It capped off a year they were booted out of their home ground by the Commonwealth Games.

Like the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, the Suns’ season was light on athletes.

Geelong will look forward to finals while the Suns will look forward to wasting the generous support the AFL pours into them.

Richmond (98) v Western Bulldogs (95)

There was a moment of panic that swept across the MCG when it dawned on Richmond fans that they could lose and finish as low as first on the ladder.

The Bulldogs, who have not troubled anyone this year, except their fans, suddenly turned in a performance that wound the clock all the way back to 2016.

So impressive were the Doggies that they led for a lot of this and had a chance to win when Brad Lynch had a difficult shot with less than a minute to go but missed.

Bulldogs fans spent the day caught between excitement and wondering where this has been all season.

Richmond fans spent it remembering those dark days when the Tigers could lose on the MCG.

Now the Tigers face off against Hawthorn which is going to be great. I love finals; it’s the best time of the year, even better than National Frozen Food Month (it’s March before you Google).

Fremantle (67) v Collingwood (76)

Following last week’s embarrassing performance, the Dockers decided to at least try this week and who knew that trying could produce much better results?

I’m thinking of even trying it in my own life.

After an amazing season, the Pies were suddenly looking at losing to Fremantle. The Collingwood players may tolerate a medical team that make Scrubs look like a serious medical drama, but they don’t lose to Fremantle, so they steadied with Brody Mihocek kicking a couple of goals.

“Who is Brody Mihocek” many of you ask. Don’t worry; it seems most AFL scouts didn’t know who he was either.

It was a great win for the Pies, the only downside being Sam Murray wasn’t there to help with the celebrations.

The victory has locked in a game for the Pies at Optus Oval, but unfortunately, it will be against the good Western Australian side.

Fremantle will be glad to draw a line through 2018, and they should consider doing that for 2019 too.

Carlton (61) v Adelaide (165)

It may have been Round 23, but Carlton still gave it their all in this one, almost losing by less than 100 points.

In a beautiful ceremony before the game, the Blues unveiled their 2018 wooden spoon, celebrating a season of mediocrity and embarrassing moments.

Carlton skipper Marc Murphy was present with the spoon by Peter Dutton, the perfect choice for an award the symbolises spectacularly stuffing something up beyond belief.

As Dutton passed the spoon to Murphy, Murphy dropped it, and they bumped heads as they both bent down to pick it up.

Adelaide took out all their frustration and anger that built up over this season out on the Blues, let’s hope it was very therapeutic for them.

The Crows problems aren’t over yet, with the company they sacked following their disastrous pre-season camp, Collective Mind, announcing they will hold a media conference which they say is to ‘clear the air’ on the pre-season camp.

Spoiler alert, it will not clear the air.

Sydney (74) v Hawthorn (83)

This was a classic, with both teams giving it their all and the biggest star in the game, Razor Ray Chamberlain, taking centre stage.

With the game on the line, good old Razor called the most pointless goal review in the history of time.

The kick had been so obviously touched that everyone within a ten-kilometre radius knew it was touched and I’m pretty confident Ray did too, but you don’t build a brand without some TV time.

You could see his excitement as the camera’s focused on him. He looked like a kid who’d just figured out the passcode on the iPad.

Hawthorn winning close games, playing finals, it’s like life has returned to normal. Except, they play Richmond in the finals, and the Tigers are favourites.

Sydney was without Luke Parker and Buddy Franklin but was right in this, and despite the loss, they will face the Giants at the SCG in week one of finals.

I’m not sure you should be allowed to play finals if you lost to the Gold Coast Suns during the season, but there seems to be nothing in the rules preventing it.

Where’s the AFL on that rule change huh? Silence.

Brisbane (72) v West Coast (98)

Despite a few wobbles along the way, the Eagles have locked in second place, a great result considering they had to overcome many media types not picking them to play finals at all.

Robert Walls tipped the Dockers to play finals and the Eagles to miss, which fits my life philosophy that you should always do the opposite of whatever Robert Walls says.

The Eagles weren’t troubled by the Lions, who all season have been decent, without winning much.

Brisbane fans end the season with hope for the future and a deep appreciation that they are not Suns supporters.

Eagles supporters look forward to a home final, not being Dockers supporters and to Melbourne journalists questioning their culture with eight-page wrap arounds and stories that lead the news that are over ten years old.

Melbourne (102) v Greater Western Sydney (57)

Coming back from Perth and with a lifetime of disappointment in my memory, I was not confident of a Melbourne victory, but like most things in life, I was completely wrong.

The main question I came away with from this game was ‘what the hell is wrong with the Giants’.

They certainly didn’t look like a finals side in this one, and considering Melbourne were down two players for a lot of this and looked like that had twice as many men on the field you had to wonder what was going on.

Melbourne were great; they played like a side that beats the top eight sides on a regular basis.

As the finals-bound Demons slammed on the goals, the MCC was so happy you’d have though Turnbull’s corporate tax cuts had just got up.

The Giants managed not only to lose but throw in some light comedy along the way, such as Jeremy Cameron handballing to Zac Langdon who was almost next to him, with no one around and missing by a fair margin.

The Giants have a few players to return for finals, and they’ll need them based on this. The idea they are a threat to Richmond on the MCG seemed very distant.

Melbourne fans know have to grapple with securing finals tickets, which involves making sure their MCC membership is paid up.

St Kilda (94) v North Melbourne (117)

Who cares?

Well its Almost APPLE September where they roll out the new iPhones.....im itching to get one and im hoping for a duel sim job that they have never ever done before..Apple arnt the first to do anything they just do it better than everyone else.....I do like last years Samsung Note...its very stylish would look and feel great in my pocket.... they just released the new Note 9 recently unfortunately it uses android other wise it would be in my pocket now...

Freeman after a massive 2 game career was delisted by the Saints yesterday must give credit to the guy for toughing it out for so long I suggest he take a punting course and head off to the USA ...

Crow Mcgovern still with 2 years on his contract wants to be traded, paper says he has walked out...apparently when they did his deal the Crows claimed they couldn't afford anymore due to the salary cap to then sign up Gibbs shortly after leaving a somewhat bitter taste in Mitch's mouth....@ 23 they say he wants to go east to a Vic club....rumour early in the season had Mitch going with brother to the Dockers....

Premier Andy Andrews pulls a beaut stunt months out from election day, the sprite young man is proposing a rail loop off outer suburbs, we cant have a ring due to the bay being in the way, never asked the infer structure  arm of the government for advice or costing just poped it on the table in a blaze of publicity a few days ago...as you can imagine it was delightfully accepted by the public as long over due, like to know where they think there going to get the money from....

By now everyone knows we have a new PM....it will be curtains for the Libs next election, luckily Morrison was able to thwart Dud Dutton a man with a small mouth and beady eyes.....he looks evil to me....anyway they have handed Labour the next election on a platter it would take something like the Blues to win the next years flag for the Libs to get out of this.....Social climber and ex union boss Shorten...who I dont know how you can say there isn't a conflict of interest going from union leader to leader of a political party I just dont get it still worse many people actually think labour is the working man's party...oh dear....anyway another 10 years of hung parliaments coming up....its the govement we deserve since the Au electorate are rather dumb....

Jack should be fit to play against the Gaints Friday week......its also the start of the NFL season that weekend...im looking forward to that since I payed an arm and leg for the global pass they call NLF Game day I think....interesting they also give a small screen size on tablet...maybe I didn't understand the settings....though I get it on my big iMac screen and my 65inch telly very nicely.....

Two years in a row the captain has been picked from obscurity. Buddy is  not captain material.

They must look at who has been picked the most number of times and that person is the Captain.

Pop in sometimes and say a few words starting with who you follow.....i need someone to pick on...

Posted

Im sure its known now....Max "mountain man" Gwan is coaches player of the year.....also one of the Favourites for the Brownlow along with Oliver who i noticed pulled his head in and stoped mouthing off to the umps this year....

Radar WILL be in heaven tonight both McGovern and Shiel are linked and almost inked to Princess Park...

Bernie Vince WILL retire end of this season and may have played his last game for the red and dark blues, injured during a Casey match he may not recover in time assuming the Demons dont go too deep into september..

Gaff has been linked to North but we all know he will end up at the Demons, mucho $$$$ wont be enough to entice the gun mid to Arden st, Demons are going to be playing in the big league for a few years so where else would anyone want to play but on the MCG a dozen times a year....

Adam of Eagles Fame has inked a new 3 year extension now nice and locked up until the end of 2022....Simpson is over the moon due to the limited life span of an AFL coach the payout will be enormous when they eventually go belly up....

Ben Jarman has been cut by the Crows...with a name like that im sure someone will be willing to give the kid another go.......SAINTS come to mind...they know how to pick em...

Dee's were sooooo happy to get Harley "who" Balic, i recall reading all about him, has retired....

North continue to chop....6 delistings and Waite for me retired....

Son of a Gun that only shot blanks Jimmy Toumpas a former 4th round pic by Melbourne then 3 years later traded to the Power played a flattering 6 season for about 43 uneventful games looked ever bit of a footballer though somewhere from the dressing room to the football ground vanished into thin air...was never spotted near a football......ever...

A no football weekend and they have come up with an All=Australian Reserves team.....creative minds at work...I havent seen the 1st so cant comment to much though i feel Dee Nev Jetta can feel pissed off for being selected in the twos....Eagle Yeo too....How on earth does Cat Hawking's gets in? why not select Jimmy Toumpas the golden Greek for centre half?

One of the things i like about NFL football is.....lots of interesting stats.....last night i watch practice game week 3 between the Phillie Eagles and the Cleavland Browns.....now i knew the Browns were a bit if a shit team and they kinda disappeared for a while then resurfaced though i didnt think to thai much about it since we get very little NFL stuff now days here.....well it turns out the club owner wanted to move the club to Baltimore the Cleveland supporters and this is mid 90's pretty much were going to lynch him, up until then the Browns had been a very successful team dominating the early years and continuously making the play offs up until said move....In the end a compromise was reached where all the Browns players and coach became the Baltimore Ravens and the Browns club were kept in trust, the Browns resumed play in 1999 as an expansion club..and won nothing since....last 2 seasons they have won one game....last night's game Eagles (Super Bowl champs) 0 Browns 5....sacked various Eagles quarterbacks 7 times and at least 3 interceptions...was a very good game....

Reading one off the online papers during the week....was mention our boy Harry Kewell was a favourite to take over  Notts County soccer club in England, in Robin Hood country, you know Maid Marion etc etc....well it was mentioned that Notts County is the oldest football club in the world....of course me a Demon supporter know thats not true because Melbourne is the oldest football club in the world...1858 i believe...Notts county came about in 1862 there for we should raise a petition and pop it off to the soccer thread here in TV and get this gross injustice sorted out....

AFL website has predicted Dustin Martin to win Brownlow again.

Nobody stands out as the clear favourite, but Dusty will be high up there on the list , no doubt.

Can't wait till finals footy. Rougher tougher footy great to watch.

Will roast up some pork ribs and sink a few average tasting beers.thursday for tigers v Hawks.

I'll stick with tigers by 40 points.
