Why do we go shopping with Thai partners ?

Featured Replies

I assumed the OP was talking about shopping for clothes for the woman. No? Clothes and food are two different bags.

Going shopping with wife and kids is pretty normal in most Western countries, but of course the average man living in Thailand is an absolute social-misfit and therefor he would not be able to understand this could be fun for both.

My wife doesn't drive so if she needs to shop, I'm her chauffeur. Once we have arrived at the store, we regularly go our separate ways and even though we may only have one trolley, we still pay separately.

I agree with you.  Thais go shopping with the family the same as they do in the West.  Who dosen't know this?  The OP!

back home my wife had a credit card. here my wife has cash. both have their own cars. they dont need me for shopping and i dont usually enjoy it.

any one who has been to a Thai mall on the weekend

Seriously, nobody should go to a mall for shopping on weekends. The place is full of people, not to mention finding a parking place can be a nightmare. I'm thrilled that Makro opens at 6AM, no traffic on the roads and ample of parking avilable.

When me and Mrs Possum go shopping, we take the one trolley, then each of us pay for our own. I have my money and she has hers, never a problem.

I see couples out shopping on my rare excursions and note that it is the male that generally pays - can't help but think that they are not in a very trusting relationship?

I agree. Maybe from bad experience...who knows what drives their thinking.

ATM and as most Farang don't speak the lingo the old girl tags along.

If mine comes, rarely, the bill is always higher.

May the puppies continue their blissful spending, suckers.

I like watching the Thai guys carry the little dog as the Thai lady with the short skirt and spike heals does the shopping.  Pure kink.

In my opinion back in our own countries us men are rarely ever seen out shopping with women...

Might depend of from where you originates; however, some Western women might know its better to park the man somewhere with a beer, or whatever he prefers, and meanwhile shop alone.

In same-same but different Thailand that man might be needed by some of ladies as ATM to pay for their shoppings...:whistling:

Im happy to go shoping with wife. Its nice being together. Have coffee/lunch. Its about getting out and about. We both have no brats.

Each to their own.  My kids got into top international universities on their own.  Now they are all graduated and approaching middle age.

Sure. They are married, presume live together. You know, sleep together, do chores together, probably cook & eat together, socialise together. As I would assume most normal married couples do. Quite likely have a joint bank account if only for bills & the like. They go shopping together, even use the same cart, trolley. At the check-out they pay separately for their purchases. You care to elaborate what's not strange about that ?

My turn ! i always know exactly what i need to stock up on and try to go just on opening BEFORE the wondering out of control kids and the parents who really dont know why they are there other than the air con, and block the isles up with indecisive wonderment... i am usually out within 15/20 mins with 4/5 days of tucker in hand, i always get a bit of a nod and grin from the security guy on the way out, nod nod wink wink. ????

To window shop on all the other attractive women out shopping.
