Relatives of the alleged victims - three girls aged 6, 10 and 14 and a nine-year-old boy from the same family - feared they wouldn't get justice as the suspect - who was the head of a rubber plantation in Chumphon's Lang Suan district - was now on bail and allegedly threatened them.

The 14-year-old victim's 52-year-old mother Jan (not her real name) also claimed that the 50-year-old suspect – identified only as Surin (last name withheld) – threatened her family after he was was earlier arrested for allegedly raping and sexually molesting the children over a number of years but later was released on bail.

Chumphon police chief Pol Maj General Sajarat Saksilpchai, said he had instructed the case investigator to proceed with legal action against the suspect for the alleged victim intimidation and to gather tighter evidence to prosecute him for the alleged sex crimes.

Jan said that she, her husband and their teenage son and two-year-old daughter, moved from Sakhon Nakhon in 2007 to find rubber tapping jobs in Sawi district. They got to know plantation owner Surin who was kind to the family and invited them to build a shack on his land in tambon Bang Maphrao of Lang Suan district, she said.

Jan said Surin often took her daughter to his home. When the girl was seven years old, however, it was revealed that Surin had allegedly molested or raped her over the previous five years.

Jan said that Surin then offered Bt20,000 to hide the scandal and she accepted as her family lived on Surin's land and she tried to block Surin from taking advantage of the girl again.

The girl claimed, however, that she continued to be a target of Surin's alleged sexual advances.

In February this year, Jan said she found out that her nephew, nine, had allegedly been raped and her two grand-daughters had allegedly avoided Surin's sexual advances on multiple occasions.

Because of the latest incidents, Jan said she filed a police complaint. She said a medical examination of all four children backed her allegations.

She said her family has now moved out of the area to stay on another community leader's land.

Jan claimed that she decided to come forwards to tell the story to Thai journalists this week because Surin allegedly had some men, driving in a van, shown the four children's photos to the villagers in her new neighborhood earlier this week, as to ask for a direction to the family's new home - which was a threatening gesture that made the family worried they might not get justice.

RELATIVES of four young children – three girls aged 6, 10 and 14 and a nine-year-old boy from the same family – say they are living in fear after accusing an influential local man of sexually attacking them.

The alleged assailant, the head of a rubber plantation in Chumphon’s Lang Suan district, is said to have raped and sexually molested the children over a number of years and is now on bail pending trial.

The family says the man has frightened the children by threatening them in various ways over the accusations.

Chumphon governor Wiboon Rattanapornwong yesterday sent provincial social development and human security office head Wallapa Kaewsawi and related local officials to visit the family’s house to provide aid to the children.

Three of them agreed to speak with the officials but the 14-year-old was reportedly so traumatised she refused to talk with anyone.

The family has now struck a deal with officials to send the three younger children to study and stay at another school in Tha Sae district in order to prevent them from being attacked or threatened again.

The older girl’s 52-year-old mother Jan (not her real name) claimed that the 50-year-old man – identified only as Surin (last name withheld) – threatened her family after his arrest.

Chumphon police chief Pol Maj-General Sajarat Saksilpchai, said he had instructed the case investigator to proceed with legal action against the suspect for alleged witness intimidation and to gather more evidence so they can prosecute him for the alleged sex crimes.

Jan said that she, her husband, their teenage son and two-year-old daughter, moved from Sakon Nakhon in 2007 to find rubber-tapping jobs in Sawi district.

They got to know plantation owner Surin, who was kind to the family and invited them to build a shack on his land in Tambon Bang Maphrao, Lang Suan district, she said.

Jan said Surin invited her daughter to his home but when the girl was seven years old she said he had been molesting and raping her over the previous five years.

She further claimed that Surin then offered her Bt20,000 not to mention the allegations to anyone and she accepted as her family lived on his land.

She did, however, try to stop Surin from taking advantage of her daughter again but the girl said she continued to be a target of his sexual advances.

Jan said she found out last month that her grandson, nine, had allegedly also been raped on several occasions since February 27 and that her two grand-daughters had also allegedly been assaulted by Surin on several occasions.

Jan said it was after she heard of the latest incidents that she decided to file a police complaint and furthermore, she said a medical examination of all four children backed up her allegations.

She said her family had now moved out of the area to stay on another community leader’s land.

Jan claimed that she decided to take the matter further and tell her story to journalists after Surin was behind an intimidating episode only this week. She said some men, driving around in a van, had shown photos of the four children to villagers in her new neighbourhood and asked for directions to the family’s new home. She took it as a threatening gesture and added that it made the family worried that they might not get justice.

If truly guilty, I suggest he be tied to one of his own rubber trees on his big plantation and tapped the same way his trees are tapped. One month should do it. Tap twice each day, sun up and mid afternoon when the sun is high (and hottest).

The latex is harvested by slicing a groove into the bark of the tree at a depth of a quarter inch with a hooked knife and peeling back the bark.

Will there be any counselling supports for the victims??

Result of extremely sick perpetrator and extreme poverty for the family, extremely sad.

Surely the behaviours of the children must have given some indication to parents/teachers or other adults that abuse was taking place???

This systemic patriarchal indifference I.e. that let’s a man out of custody (if he was ever in custody!) highlights the depth of patriarchal driven violence against others that have less power.

we as men must stand up look very deeply at our own patriarchal inheritances and reject those parts of same that are however subtlety aligned with, indifferent to, or complicit with any sexual child and female directed violence.

This is just one of thousands of reports of this nature covered up by tons of BAHT. Police pay from top to bottom provides an avenue to protect these perverts. In the USA there may be a potential President who is a pervert running for office, Biden has a long history of molestation of adults and children.

Proof required for that accusation surely, regarding Biden.

I have no knowledge of USA's potential presidents but I would certainly not make unfounded accusations such as this. I thought the USA was a champion of the 'give us a hug' and being a feely touchy society. Now PC is rampant and greeting people with a peck on the cheek, which I incidentally don't do, to male or female, will be taboo. The French and Latinos will be in for a hard time. As an Englishman, a handshake has always been adequate. I await ridicule with an unabated breath.
