Ive got a thai girl pregnant and shes keeping it. Ive tried googling about the costs associated but the answers vary wildly. She wants to go to banglamung hospital for the birth and when ive asked about the cost shes been vague (its her firstbaby so its new to her too)but ive managed to get “my friend say around 15000 + a bit more” out of her.  I asked her why theres a fee if its government and she says the rules changed for pregnancy under the 30 baht scheme.

Language barrier makes it hard to push the questioning

Is this true that the 30 baht scheme no longer covers pregnancy?

Shes from Korat but living over the dark side of pattaya. I remember a while back she had to go back to korat to make id or something because thats where shes from so im thinking she may still be registered there and thats why shes not covered in banglamung?

Finally, has anyone had a birth at banglamung lately and know the costs? The 15000 isnt an issue but if there are complications that price can easily spiral.

thanks in advance for replies !

The 30 baht scheme covers everything related to pregnancy including complications.

However she needs to get care in the hospital that covers the area where she is listed in a tabian ban. Possible that this is still Korat. If so, and if she will stay in Pattaya area for the pregnancy and birth she needs to change her tabian ban listing. This is perfectly possible to do, though needs the cooperation of a landlord or home owner in Pattaya.

The restriction on getting care in hospital of tabian ban registration does not apply in an emergency. In that case any govt hospital though they might try to bill her in which case a call to the NHSO hotline will take care of it (assuming it was a true emergency in which it was impossible to travel to the hospital of registration).
