CARACAS (Reuters) - When Felix Garcia woke up on Tuesday he was fired up by surprising news - Venezuelan opposition politician Leopoldo Lopez, under house arrest for the past two years, had appeared in public.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday accused the opposition in Venezuela of resorting to violence in what it said was a brazen attempt to draw the country's armed forces into clashes.

Aussie lifeguards and Navy conduct local lifesaver program

Australian Navy takes Patong Beach by storm

PHUKET: Visitors at Patong Beach yesterday morning were treated to a welcome surprise as Royal Australian Navy (RAN) landing craft, including two amphibious vehicles, made their way onto the beach. The mission was to deliver a huge store of much needed life-saving equipment to Patong’s lifeguards.

Scam victims file complaint over fake virtual corn farming game

Some 30 disgruntled online gamers have filed complaints with Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police in Bangkok alleging they had been duped by a cosmetic surgery promoter to invest real money into a virtual corn farming game to earn cash.

Julian Assange sentenced to 50 weeks in British jail for skipping bail

LONDON (Reuters) - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was sentenced to 50 weeks in jail by a London court on Wednesday for skipping bail to enter the Ecuadorean embassy where he was holed up for almost seven years until police dragged him out last month.

Probe into shophouse that collapsed, killing father while family ate dinner

Forensic police on Wednesday morning inspected the scene of a Prachuap Khiri Khan shophouse that collapsed on Tuesday evening, resulting in one death and two injuries to a family of five as they ate dinner.
