I have a Non O Retirement Visa issued in December 2018.  I’m starting a new job in BKK and have just returned from KL with a Non Imm B Visa for the work permit.

The IO at Don Mueang asked me on arrival which visa I wanted to enter on and I told her the Non B.

I had been led to believe that the retirement visa would have been cancelled upon issuance of the Non B.

Does this mean that the retirement visa will remain valid until its expiry in Dec 2019, even though I’m now here on the Non Imm B?

This would be handy if the new job isn’t what I hope it to be.

Thx for any further insight.

nope not valid, any IO can and will take notice that you entered on another VISA and threrefore your extension is  cancelled....

I assume you had an extension of stay issued by immigration based upon retirement not a non-o visa issued by a embassy or consulate.

Your extension of stay is no longer valid since you now have a new permit to stay date from the non-b visa.

Why didn’t they stamp cancelled or void or whatever all over the Retirement Visa or extension?

If you had a visa issued by a embassy or consulate a embassy or consulate could of canceled it.

A embassy or consulate has no authority to cancel an extension.

Joe.   If I finished my employment, left the country and returned presenting the retirement visa, could I renter on that visa as it is valid until Dec 19?

You can use whatever visa you have any time for entry into Thailand until and including the "ENTER BEFORE" date shown on the visa.

interesting could find myself in this situation early next year.

So you hold a non 0 retirement and years extension and multi entry permit all issued at immigration.

You then decide to teach again, apply for a B at a local consulate re enter from Laos ..on the retirement visa but with a fresh non B in your passport.

However your job doesnt work out and you leave before the B is extended or work permit is issued.

Can you remain in country within the 15 months validity of the original non O and retirement extension?
