I was wondering if those of you with experience can tell me if you got a Visa in your home country before flying to Bangkok ? Or... did you try to secure a visa upon arrival ? I am trying to make sure I have all my items ready to enter Thailand smooth as possible. I appreciate your feedback and past experiences. VOA available to 21 countries. ubonjoe Posted May 2, 2019 Share Posted May 2, 2019 Looking at your previous posts you are from the US which means you could get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for the 30 days at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht. The problem you could have is boarding your flight to here since the airline can ask to see a flight out of the country within 30 days of arrival if you planned stay is longer than 30 days. It would be best to get a single entry tourist visa that would allow a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days. You could apply for it in person or by mail at the embassy in Washington DC or one of the official consulates in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles. I may be pressed for time though as I was going to fly out of Dallas on the 9th to Las Vegas to play some texas holdem for 5 days before heading to Bangkok. Farmer1956 Posted May 6, 2019 Share Posted May 6, 2019 Depends on how long you are planning to stay, if less than 30 days you can enter without a visa, just complete the arrival card (TM 60) issued on the plane. Keep that point in your mind, and especially that another expat is more likely to do you wrong than a local Thai. If you are American, I would be extremely wary of any British people you meet. brent c Posted May 23, 2019 Author Share Posted May 23, 2019 Well, Bangkok was interesting. The heat is like a Texas summer day. A couple of the places I went were in a top 10 list and thus completely overrun by Chinese. Especially the night train market Ratchada. That sent me to the much more peaceful Sukhumvit Soi 11. great little place called the Apoteka had some nice live music. Now, a little place called Bueng Kan and the people could not be more friendly. PS: Poker in Las Vegas went just fine lol and my trust levels are about the same as when someone is bragging on their nut flush with a rainbow on the board.
