snoop1130
Semi-built motorway needs more warning signs: highways chief By Prasit Tangprasert The Nation The Highways Office in Nakhon Ratchasima has instructed a construction contractor to erect signs warning motorists against using the semi-built motorway to prevent accidents, said office director Pornchai Silarom on Wednesday. On May 5, a 60-year-old man sustained slight injuries when driving his Toyota pickup on the unfinished Bang Pa In-Nakhon Ratchasima motorway and fell into a six-metre hole in Ban Kud Noi, Sikieo district. Pornchai said the driver side would pay Bt10,000 towards the road damage after the contractor initially demanded Bt20,000. The contractor used a crane to remove the damaged truck. The highways chief said there was confusion about a 2km stretch of road and more warning signs were needed. The 100km motorway was 70 per cent complete and was expected to be in use by the end of 2021, Pornchai said. Fell in a six metre hole? From that photo, it looks like he flew about thirty feet through the air from where the road seems to end!!

I drive everyday and gave been coming to Thailand since 1993. Education, Signage and barricades do make a difference. The Thai drivers have come a long way, and a long way to go for years ahead it seems.

Lupatria
I bet even 50 signs wouldn't catch more attention than a zebra crossing...

An assumption is being made here that the vehicle came to rest pointing in its original direction of travel. From its position that is highly unlikely. It is more likely that it slewed round during the accident.

I think he surfed the rebar.

From the report yesterday regarding this accident:- " They said that he had come off an elevated section. " Has me wondering if he was driving on a section running parallel to this one and landed, rather than drove, there.
