Yes, a lot more sophisticated countries than Thailand have tried this and failed miserably and in fact have caused more harm than good with their ineffective efforts. If Thailand was serious they would be calling out China for making billions addicting S.E. Asia by providing the base chemicals.

You want to see China called out for making nasal decongestants which they will only export with a LONO instead of the corrupt officials in Myanmar aiding the rebel drug manufacturers by furnishing them with the permits?

Rather a safe remark to make given historically the drug trade has been run by the police and military.

  • He needs a good toke!

  • Has been tried in far more developed countries during a very long time. To tell you the truth, it can't be done.

yea and that's why the same Chinese chemical supply companies are only selling carfentanil to elephant vets, not flooding Canada with it and it's cousin fentanyl 1000's of overdoses, and you're blaming corrupt Myanmar officials (who do think corrupted them lol)

Because it is not the same companies, those drugs are made in illegal labs in China wheras pseudoeohedrine is made in legitimate labs with full governmental control.

Way to go making things up though, if that's what you gotta do.

As for who corrupted them, rhat would be the Shan State Army, who were you thinking?

Those labs didn't become illegal until just recently and that was  after operating for over 15 yrs flooding North America with poison.  Full government control?  and no wink wink with 100's of millions floating by ? ok amigo whatever you say just don't hurt your ears when you pull your head back out..

No, they were always underground labs, they just hadn't made all those drugs illegal yet, there are thousands of analogues so although not government authorised phamaceutical manufacturers, they were also not illegal as long as not selling to the Chinese market, it was a loophole  Which is of course completely and utterly different to the legitimate manufacture and export of pseudoephedrine based on a state authorised LONO.  Or did Canada approve the import of fentanyl? LOLZ  And you think its me with my head in my arse?  You havent the first idea what you're talking about, yet here you are....

If not from China they will buy them from India, that's the thing with perfectly legal drugs, they can be bought anywhere.

What can China do about these legitimate sales being corrupted and handed over to the rebels to make meth?

You want to talk about Canada, well where do the meth labs there get their pseudoephedrine from?  The pharmacy, right?  When its Myanmar meth you want the Chinese held responsible for supplying them, why not the Canadian drug stores who supply the Canadian meth trade?

Oh but fentanyl, a completely different issue altogether, got ya.

But Singapore is a relatively small area of only 722.5 sq/km and a population of only 5,638,700 compared to Thailand of 514,000 sq/km,

Land boundaries[edit]

Total: 4,863 km

Border countries: Myanmar 1,800 km, Cambodia 803 km, Laos 1,754 km, Malaysia 506 km

a population of some 69.04 million people.

One of the biggest drug makers is Myanmar with a border 1,800 km long.

Not sure why this is so hard for you to grasp but China is making and selling nasal decongestants, its the drug cartels who are making them into illegal drugs.  Your beef should be with the cartels, rebels and corrupt officials, not the legitimate production of ephedra derived and synthesized pharaceutical products, but then you really really want to bash China, so no doubt you will regardless of the facts.

And Singapore does actually have a drug problem, both in its middleclass youths and in their well hidden away slums, HIV is common as heroin addicts have little oportunity to buy needles, same happening in Malaysia, neither country likes to talk about it, choosing instead to pretend that their drug policies are a success, and some are fooled.

Wow, you're really going to absolve the biggest drug dealers (with the use of proxies) in the world. I guess a country that runs over its own unarmed citizens with tanks in the street can win the hearts and minds of not just their own..

But but but this is a different tack no less. This is investigations into key persons behind (which suggests they want to look at someone’s bottom which is serious).

Anyway, as you were, and business as usual.

Big noting himself again!

Corruption is endemic to Thai society, unfortunately. And Prawit carrying on like a "holier than thou" person serves only to cast doubts about some high ranking officials in Government, military or otherwise, (let alone further down the chain).

I always wonder what happens to drugs seized. Are they being re-distributed (as some may, not unreasonably, suspect) or do they get destroyed (but never seen any evidence of this)?

11 hours ago, Kieran00001 said:

It is made by militias in Myanmar, the precursors are made in China, but they also have legitimate use in pharmaceutical manufacture, so you cant blame China for selling something legal that Myanmar then allows to get out of their control and into the hands of the rebels.

Shipments have also been intercepted directly from China to Thailand ,NZ and Australia. So their hands are not clean by any means

As the great man speaks it is done.

"The Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has intercepted more than 300 million methamphetamine pills and apprehended 177,067 suspects in 165,688 drug busts over a six month period."

Startling numbers, unbelievably high numbers, I believe them????

Do drugs worth hundreds of millions of Baht get destroyed in Thailand, yes of course they do.

Why would we think anything else.

Yeah, where those who are awaiting trial being held? Secret cities built in the jungles. Maybe at SeaStead off the coast?

The Senate?

Here we go! The junta to come down hard on what ever red shirts are left in the north with the excuse they were in possession of drugs. Philippines police style killings coming as soon as the police can be bothered to get themselves off their ass.

Prawit is suddenly becoming quite vocal. Someone must have awoken him from his well-publicised slumbers.

Any coincidence that this is happening around the time that the political in-fighting for cabinet positions is about to begin? Though why, with 500 elected and party list MPs, should anyone consider an unelected watch borrower for such a position. We'll see.

You are spot on about that. Just look at USA and the same has happened. Where did the precursers come from? Guess who!!! China. Any country that would put antifreeze in colgate tooth paste and sell it to dollar stores in america , you have to wonder. Chop the head of the snake off you eliminate the problem till the next opprotunist comes along. Then cut the head off that too.

It can never be completely stopped but with very stiff penalties it can certainly be greatly reduced.

Hahahahahaha!

You think that the tank man was run over?  Watch the video mate, you've been had by the Western propaganda put out during the Cold War.  Plenty of Western journalists were there, all reported no one killed and no shots fired.
