I'm soon to do my first RV renewal in BKK having done so previously in Pattaya. I have the necessary money in the bank and it's been there the appropriate time. I keep reading about the hours people wait at CW for RV renewals and wonder if it is possible/ worth it to pay an agent to speed things up on the day?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or knows of a good/reliable agent who could make things happen quickly, please let me know! I don't need to 'borrow' the B800,000, just someone who can steer a novice at CW through the procedure that so many here have problems with.

Thanks for any and all useful information ????

The OP asked politely how to do something. I think it would to polite to give him an answer if anyone can advise. It is entirely up to him how he spends his money.

When I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago I saw several shops offering visa services around the Sukumvit Soi 11-13 area. If you get no recommendations that might be a good place to look.

What do you mean with "RV renewal"?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

In context, I am sure he is saying "Retirement Visa renewal" by which he means a further extension of his permission to stay on the basis of retirement.

Orientfan,

I used TSL Associates on Wireless road across from US embassy before. Excellent service at CW. Quick in and out. I had the money in bank too. I also used Express Translations on Sukhumvit road near Wireless road for Marriage and they were excellent. I think they do yearly extension renewals too. There's also Bangkok Buddy's on Sukhumvit. Just need to google them for contact info.

Did you move to Bangkok after getting your extension last year in Pattaya?

Are the prices reasonable like less than 10K? Can a person living in Pattaya use their services?

If you have 800,000 THB ,seasoned for the correct time,

why bother with an agent, all you need is copies of your passport, bank book.

bank letter, update your bank book on the day, fill the form,

I did my extension a couple of weeks ago at Chiang Mai ,which used

to be the worst office in Thailand, you had to be in queue at 4.00 in the

morning,to be sure to get a ticket,not now,at bank 10.00, get letter,

drive to Immigration, get queue ticket, processed and out the door

by just after 11.30.what could be easier, anyone who uses an agent

when they have the correct paperwork, ect, must have more money

than sense,I have much better use for 10,000 + THB,than give it to

an agent for couple hours work, try to do it once, and you will save

money every year.

You are retired.  You have the time, what's the hurry?.  You have the financial requirements - generally the biggest hurdle. All you need to do is to make sure you have all the required paperwork - photos less than 6 months old, medical certificate less than 7 days old, proof of where you live.

Why throw 10-20k baht at an agent?

Does the maid actually vacuum clean? Or perhaps, hand polishes the ornaments! :offtopic::sorry: Couldn't resist.

Thanks for interesting replies. Yes, it's a visa extension renewal based on retirement. And I have moved to Bangkok since last year's renewal. Renewal seems a straightforward from in Pattaya and CM but protracted and problematic at CW.
Any further thoughts or recommendations are welcome.

Maybe the same reason one buy a dishwasher despite he can wash his dishes manually.

Most likely already mentioned. Make sure you do your TM28 since you have changed residence and TM30. TM30 most likely not asked for at CW but do it anyway. To obtain car licence you will need to obtain "certificate of residence" you could obtain that while at CW. That's when the TM30 would crop up.

Have a map of where you live and update bankbook. All the main banks are in the building so do it on day of application and make small deposit at same time. Its done at desk not teller. About 200 baht for "bank letter" for service and 100 deposit. Have your form tm7 all filled in walk past people obtaining forms and obtain your ticket. Then go to bank for your letter. I always take copy of my lease. Sometimes they don't take it. This last time io did.

Except that there is no such thing. There is "extension of stay based on retirement"

It's OK then, if you need someone to hold your hand.

the maid will be very pleased you have a vacuum cleaner,

much easier for her, than a brush.

Indeed

If one has his ducks in a row - bank letter. Passbook updated that day you apply and visa extension piece of paper filled out with attached passport photo, it's a piece of cake.

Using an agent is the lazy man's route.

  • Popular Post

During my last renewal, I probably saw ~ 5 people accompanied by an agent, out of ~ 48, over a span of 2 plus hours seated outside the L section.

Their ability to swan in and out in a few minutes certainly conjures up pleasant images in my mind. ("I could be home now")

I'd use an agent - I believe I present no financial challenges requiring potentially dodgy documentation - if:

it cost 7,500 THB or less (I'd even pay the 1,900 on top)

it saved considerable time

it was legal and did not subject me to subsequent random criminal prosecution, or shake-downs

using an agent... they took my photo, filled out all forms, just had me sign here and there, made the appointment - drove me to Imm and I was back in their office in 30 minutes - not more than 10 minutes at Imm and all I had to do was stand for a photo and sign once...

Yes, did this on my own for many years - but w/an agent don't have to worry what forms and spend the time filling them out and such... yes, you do pay for the service but for me it is well worth the price.

Some people can easily afford to pay an agent to make things quick & easy. You shouldn't put down on people who have money. The extra money I spend for an agent is a drop in a bucket, no I meant swimming pool. I enjoy spending that much every week on entertainment & dining out. I gave the OP some agency names in earlier post which is what he asked for. Best wishes to all..

It takes no time at all. Don't waste money on an agent. All you need is the 800000 baht with letter form the bank, or the 65K a month deposits. Plus you might need your partner and her blue book. A couple of photos (can be done at immigration), a few pages of your passport to be copies (can be done at immigration), and 6800 baht for extension and multiple entry and you are good to go. Takes no time at all.

Whatever you say?

Alright for you.
My health is not the best and the day might come that I might have to use an agent because of health reasons.
And there will be others to in the same situation.

Get there early, >09.00, get your queue ticket first, then fill in the forms, get yr bank letter and have a coffee. Roughly 10 numbers /hr. Interview 6-8 min. New ploy at Chaengwattana is to hold passports over lunch time, so have lunch and you're out at 13.15. Simple.
