George Clooney has revealed he gave Ben Affleck some advice on taking on the Batman role: "Don't do it".

Clooney played Gotham City's caped crusader in Joel Schumacher's 1997 film Batman & Robin, which also starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, and was panned by critics.

The 58-year-old star, whose career recovered from the critical drubbing, told The Hollywood Reporter it changed the way he approached roles.

"Schwarzenegger was paid, I think, 25 million dollars for that, which was like 20 times more than I was paid for it, and, you know, we never even worked together! We worked together one day. But I took all the heat," he said.
