FAKE DRAFTS:

Hotels accuse Englishman

BANGKOK: -- An Englishman was yesterday arrested for allegedly using fake bank drafts worth about Bt150,000 to pay for his stay at two luxury hotels in Bangkok.

Police arrested Michael David Reid, 40, in the lobby of the Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit Hotel late yesterday afternoon. They had earlier received a complaint from the JW Marriott Hotel that Reid had stayed there for three days and paid his tab with fake bank drafts.

On Friday, the JW Marriott had filed a complaint with police saying Reid had used a fake bank draft to pay his Bt104,568 bill. Police subsequently traced him to the Sheraton.

Reid had stayed at the JW Marriott from May 18 to 20 and then moved to the Sheraton, police said.

He paid his Bt43,934 bill at the Sheraton with a fake bank draft, police said.

Tourist Police deputy chief Colonel Sakolrat Theerasawas said he believed that Reid had used fake bank drafts to pay tabs at numerous luxury hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Phuket.

Sakolrat encouraged anyone who may have been a victim of Reid to contact Tourist Police or Lumpini police station where Reid was being detained for further interrogation.

Let's see him try it at the Bangkok Hilton now :o

Bt 104,568 for three days, thats a lot of room service ! :o

Let's see him try it at the Bangkok Hilton now <_<

The Hilton gives good discounts to eligible guests. The room service sucks however and there's a bit of a curfew. :o

The Bankok Hilton must be the best place to stay in Thailand, I've heard that some people like it so much they spend their whole lives there :D

Security must be spot on , you never hear of any break ins :o

Ain't those observations the truth. :D

These people have usually no money, and any prison sentence is timewaste...

What they can do in Thailand, is to deport this person and do the best to keep him away from Thailand for the rest of his life....

In a Thai prison he will start to complain about human rights and maybe to convert to Islam...claiming special food and a prayer room....and some idiots will even pity him and try to help him....

Only and best solution is, to kick out such people at once.... banking clearance system in Thailand should be speed up, to prevent such people even to try it out with fake money or fake cheques.

Kick him out so he can start over again in some other country? Let him rot for a while.
