Question regarding MFA certification of foreign document

Featured Replies

Hello and thanks in advance for any responses.

I have this little question , if anyone knows

Let's say we have some foreign documents, issued by foreign authorities in a  language other than English, that we wish to legalize in Thailand. These documents have been already officially translated at the country of origin from the local foreign language to English language.
Here is my question:  before we proceed to the official translation here in Thailand from English to Thai language and then submit the documents to MFA for  legalization, does the  Embassy/Consular Service  in Bangkok of the country of issuance need to : Certify ONLY the original  document in the foreign language , or do they need to certify ALSO the official translation from the original foreign language to English that was done in the country of issuance ?

I hope it is not very complicated, have a nice day to all of you

AFAIK The embassies can’t certify the original , only the copy of the legalized translation to be true

The Department of Consular Affairs of the MFA does not certify  document from other countries. And they will only certify translations to Thai or translations from to Thai to another language.

If your embassy or consulate will legalize documents that is where it would have to be done. The would not certify a translation.
