This is why the American model hospital system is not accepted in the rest of the civilised world. Without insurance and rich foreigner pricing, your bill would have been more like $2,000 for a Cambodian native. You and your 'big insurance' are the problem, not the solution. You're destroying affordable healthcare for the rest of the world. This is true, both parties pushing to the limits of just how much to screw the victim. Many instances of especially Thailand screwing unknowing farang, plenty and its sickening. You need medical insurance to keep those damned for profit hospitals at bay,if that is the route unwillingly chosen, and that is going to cost, small wonder the Thai govt are cracking down on them. Overwhelmingly whatever medically wants doing is a elective and selective option, bad case of cancer staying in thailand is ridiculous, when UK its free, not only that but an extra 85gbp tax and means tested is free there for the individual,.......whatever hernia, prostate, anything and everything can be gotten far cheaper,(and better in my opinion) than Thailand
