webfact
UK PM May's party slumps to third place amid Brexit crisis - opinion poll Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May gives a speech in response to the Augar Review into post-18 education in central London, Britain May 30, 2019. Daniel Leal-Olivas/Pool via REUTERS (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Theresa May's Conservatives would slump to third place if a general election were held now, according to a new opinion poll, as voters frustrated with the deadlock over Brexit would punish the main political parties. The Conservatives, Britain's oldest and most successful party, would finish outside the top two parties in a nationwide vote with 19 percent of the vote for the first time in at least a century, the YouGov poll for The Times newspaper showed. The main opposition Labour Party, which is pushing for a softer version of Brexit, would also finish third with 19 percent of the vote, according to the poll. The Liberal Democrats, campaigning on a straightforward demand for a new referendum aiming to reverse Brexit, would emerge as the largest political party with 24 percent of the vote, the poll showed. The next largest party would be Nigel Farage's Brexit Party, which supports a clean break with the EU, and would be the second largest party with 22 percent. Popular Post terryw
People want these political parties to have a clear position on Brexit. Popular Post Loiner
Both CON and LAB thoroughly deserve every woe which now befalls their parties. They have both lied, cheated and treated their supporters with contempt for too many years. If they were both to disappear completely it would only be a minor loss to the UK voters. Another positive would be all that club property around the country soon available for conversion into flats. LibDem - how could they possibly find so many new votes for a GE? A new generation of trendy young voters who obviously don't remember their lies in the coalition. "We'll abolish Brexit." sounds similar to their infamous "We'll abolish Uni fees." on which they reneged. Just another poll though, and by YouGov, therefore taken with yet another pinch of salt. 5 1 1

Consequence of teh British system: the one wioth the most votes in a constituency gets all. 50% + 1 of the constituencies and.. you have the government with quite dictatorial powers. It is. The problem we have now is that Farage, con's and lab are all chasing after the votes of the 52%, which is why they are all polling so low With FPTP this could result in them splitting the vote and winning very few seats. If remain can get it's act together and present a unified front, it could clean up at the next GE.

It is sad to see the LP chair (Laverty) still claiming that the country needs to be brought together by Labour who should still be fighting to attract everyone. How many kicks in the conjones do the voters have to give them, before they wake up and see that the country doesn't want to be united on this issue, and in fact many other issues as well. 4
