Think I've been there, also have good "gorp" (frog) if it is the same place, pretty sure it is based on your description, in Sansai, right?

Yes. They also have several crocodile dishes on the menu, which is not to say I recommend them. Tastes a lot like frog. ????

The main favourite was satay, but not the Thai version. Very hard to find, but a stall in the food court of Central Airport in Chiang Mai did a reasonable version for 50 baht.
