webfact
PM Prayut happy with rubber price situation BANGKOK (NNT) - The increase of the price of para rubber has reflected the government’s efforts to improve the rubber price situation, and one of the measures is using more para rubber in government projects. The Deputy Government Spokesman, Lt. Gen. Weerachon Sukhondhapatipak, said the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, was satisfied with the recent increase of the para rubber price, with the price of smoked rubber sheet Grade 3 (ribbed smoked sheet No. 3 / RSS3) rising to the highest in six months to 55 baht and 71 satang. Thanks to the increased domestic consumption of rubber in Thailand, the domestic rubber prices are now higher than Malaysia’s. Local administrative organizations across Thailand have used rubber as a material in the construction of roads, covering a distance of 300,000 kilometers. More than one million tons of para rubber are being used to construct roads annually. The success of this project is apparent, after many rubber farmers complained about their hardships for over a decade. In the past, roads in rural and remote areas were unpaved. Now, these roads are constructed with a mixture of asphalt and para rubber. They are dirt-free and durable and last about three to five years. The government also has a short-term measure to help 820,862 registered rubber growers. The government compensated them with 1,800 baht per rai. The project covers 7.8 million rai of rubber plantations and 91.11% of the farmers have been compensated so far. With these measures, the government will be able to shore up the rubber prices efficiently. -- © Copyright nnt 2019-06-03 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info

Ten years ago it was more than 150 baht the kilo ; and he is happy .....He is happy about something he doesn't know . I would very much like to see him working all night ( 2 nights in three days ) in the light of a lamp attached to his forehead, among mosquitoes for a pittance; even if the price has risen slightly since its lowest around 32 baht per kilogram, it is not entitled to be proud on this one. Especially that this rise of the courses is totally artificial; it exists because thousands of peasants have pulled out of their land (and this is far from easy) their heveas plantations. 3

scorecard
Well I'm wondering if he's happy with the lack of action to stop the pollution in Chiang Mai. He came here full of bluster, gave the officials 7 days to fix it, that's nearly 2 months ago. We still have serious pollution problems. So much for follow up. Sydebolle
The price increase is not domestic demand. The trade ware between China and USA has turned the limelight onto Thailand as alternative supplier. The price was B 80, nosedived to B17 and now "toggles" around B55 - all this without HE Prayut-the-Great's involvement! And would the government keep its sticky fingers out of that pot as well, the rubber business would be doing just fine! How does a non-elected clown in this circus know how to even try to understand commodity trade business ????

Prayut subsidized rubber prices through only domestic consumption around B55 and refused further subsidies. Although he tried working with the Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand Rubber coalition to increase the global prices, it failed. What the farmers get now is a fantasy and Prayut is happy with that. Warning; the price you are talking about is the purchase price of the white balls which was actually about 80 baht per kilo about ten years ago. General Prayuth talks about these same balls already transformed into "carpet" ** by means of presses (two opposed rollers between which we pass these famous balls) that work either by hand, or with electricity or even with diesel for the biggest ones. Once passed back and forth between these two rollers, the balls easily lose half of their weight because they drain a lot of water. Just watch the loading of a truck with these balls of seve d'hevea; there is a lot of water on every side of the trucks and trailers that will carry them. **( the price of smoked rubber sheet Grade 3 (ribbed smoked sheet No. 3 / RSS3) )
