Money to finance their dream of a Socialist Europe and keep Germany from France's throat. They never wanted British Culture or Legal system, mind you the Brit Military would have been a welcome aid for them. Just money. Germany and France organized the system so they could claim back large amounts from the Agricultural fund for their inefficient farmers, while UK's farmers could never claim such large amounts. Maggie got her refund on the basis of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Blur gave half of it away on the understanding that France would reform it's farming, of course they never did or will do. May made a bad deal. she should have told them hat under their Rules/law they were entitled to nothing and if UK was to kindly offer money then it would be on the understanding they the EU did all it could to assist a Clean break and withdraw. john iam yet to meet a poor farmer.

You may however see poor farmers in Portugal and Spain if we leave without a deal. Fruit and vegetables are available from, and we already buy from, the African nations and the South American countries, and they are likely to come in duty free in the future. Who are Spain and Portugal going to sell vegetables to if they don't sell to us and who are France and Spain going to sell their mountain of wine to if we decide to buy exclusively from S Africa, Australia and South America? There are markets out there are there waiting to buy these large volumes are there?

The ridiculous CAP policy has worked even more badly in the uk, where small farmers (pretty much immediately?) sold off their farms to big business, who realised how much money they would make as a result of the eu CAP policy...... It became even more ridiculous when the eu started paying farmers not to produce! If you're going to spend money in this way, then why not spend the subsidies on small, organic farmers? I've no sympathy at all for big business uk farmers, who (IMO) need to lose their eu, income generating subsidies.

The Remainer soothsayers of economic doom are basing their propaganda on such fallacies. The trade balance is overwhelmingly in favour of EU countries, so why would you want to make problems after we have exited? There's always the question of our massive contribution of course, and the future existence implications to your corrupt club, but trying to punish the UK before and after Brexit is not a good idea. Tariffs work both ways and while UK imports of EU goods will not cease, they could become so expensive that you are left with some massive over production. Remember the wine lakes and butter mountains - they would seem insignificant. 6

Of course I don't, people will still have a choice but given the possibility that EU wines will likely come in tariff charged and Aust, NZ, SA, etc. wines could be no tarrif charged the EU might be signing its own wine death warrant. You have obviously forgotten the significant increase over the last few decades of new world wines to the detriment of France and Spain. Go to any major supermarket in the UK and you will see the display of new world wines is significantly larger than wines from the EU. I am in France at the moment and 5 years ago you would not have seen a new world wine in Auchan or Casino. They are now on the shelf in small quantities. The times they are achanging. I was in India 2 years ago and they have the fastest growing wine industry in the world followed by the USA and Canada so France and Spain might be left with only high end wines. This is probably of no interest to home brew advocates.

SheungWan
This so called divorce payment is a sham. Sadly we had a weak if not treacherous PM who was a remainer and coudn't help acting like a remainer. What about all the money the UK paid into the EU assets and buildings for over 40 plus years. You get divorced you are entitled to your share. It needs a strong brexiteer to tel them how it is.Not that the Hard Brexiteers have made any calculations about anything other than the made up 350 mill nonsense.Sent from my SM-N935F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
SheungWan
Some strange logic in the threat of refusing to pay as the basis for "forcing" an unlikely new agreement. If it comes to pass the Brexit eventuates at all then the EU would have a very good bargaining chip for any ongoing trade. Meanwhile Trump will rubbing his hands over an increased opportunity to screw over his "so much loved" pseudo cousins for new trade expectations going in the US direction. The UK has put itself between a rock and a hard place. Now it seems to consider banging it's head on same rock is a wise thing?Rock On is a Brexiteer slogan.Sent from my SM-N935F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

SheungWan
I wonder if Macron, established by the Rothschild bankers, should be suggested to get extracurricular mathematic lessons. I am not British, neither EU citizen, but as far as I understand, the UK had shoveled in billions of pounds into this endless pit in Bruxelles called the European Union. This makes me wonder, honestly, who is the debtor here. But then, what do I know ........Once you read its the Rothschild's fault, you know where that contributor jumped out from.
