Thaksin offers help to students on scholarship from lottery proceeds

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said he had learnt that some students, who are studying abroad on scholarships from two and three-digit lottery proceeds, have been in financial crisis after the cancellation of the lottery.

Thaksin said he would like to help such students through the Thaicom Foundation set up by his family.

He said students in the lottery scholarship programme, who are in need of financial assistance for their study, could contact the foundation for help.

Thaksin was speaking in a video clip published by Hi-Thaksin.net site.

That ass clown doesn't miss a trick, does he? Underhanded jabs at the government for putting the kibash on his lottery scheme, while cloaking himself in the generous light, by giving away money. (or at least offering). Sure would be great to see pure selfless acts of goodwill from the phu yais in this country. Just giving, for the benefit of man. They could all follow the lessons of Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Ted Turner in that regard....

Yeah, offering to help students who are short of money because the gov't stopped the program that was funding them is really a terrible thing to do. He should be ashamed of himself for offering to help people!!!!

What if he was?

Seriously, how many students on that lottery funding are we talking about? If it's 10, no big deal. If it's 1000s, that's a lot of potential supporters...

Right......Thaksin was being sincere (one of his strong points)....Why didn't I think of that?

Its all so clear now. Thaksin is actually a good guy, trying to help people! Thanks for clearing that up.

Now, as I said before, please pass the bong...

this guy is a absolute joke. what he really needs to do is drop the bullshite, make a national apology, and start all over beginning as a student.

I wonder if that will be before or after he can experience the inside of a jail cell. That part of the world is important to for contrast I would think. :o

I must have missed the leaving of Australia. Is he really in London?

He didn't do a very good job of teaching his own kids.

Yes Grover, you are absolutely right! He does need to drop the BS but when human characteristics were being handed out, he jumped out of the line up for humility and got a double helping of arrogance.

Apologize is not in Toxin's dictionary. He needs to spend some time inside a 10 x 10 cell in Bang Kwang first, then he may have something to teach youngsters. :D

I think we all can learn a lot from him:

- tax evasion,

- lying at the Court and get away with it,

- big scale corruption

- how to make your brother-in-law happy,

- how to make your maid earn millions ...

- Buying land in Kho Chang and subsequently make the Government pay for the development

- ...

All his students will be rich, rich, rich :o

cheatistic

fraudologic

advanced fakings

The marks you get on a mix on how much you could steal from your colleges and how much you bribe the teacher.

Required.

What's he going to teach? Creating monopolies 101? Destroying Democracy from within? Golf courses in SE Asia? The Art of War?

His life should be studied, no doubt, but I don't want Thaksin teaching it himself to anyone.

Well lets see what type of curriculum he would have then,

well starting off the possible names of the courses we can have;

*Advanced Insulting and degrading people

*Political maneuvering with explosives

*How to Ignore common sense advise

*Motivating extremists

*Delaying tactics

*How to keep a voter base uneducated

*Advanced methods of denial of involvement by proximity

*Difficulties with educated voters

*Schemes and scams

*Airport gutting

Too bad he wasn't Professor Thaksin when his son was caught cheating on an exam at Ramkhamhaeng University. He could have excused him and said it was his parent's fault that his son cheated.

I am no fan, but I think it's rather nice that he has decided to help some of the people who will be hurt by the gov't changes. He targeted a group he is more or less responsible for.

Now, lets see if he carries through with his "help" and just how much "help" they actually get.

As for being a teacher--Great! He's taught all of Thailand some important lessons, and maybe even some other countries if they are paying attention!

Cheating on a university exam. No wonder people are in such a panic when Thailand announces it wants to build a nuclear plant, and watch the airport fall apart. I wonder if they will ever learn that a diploma is just a piece of paper. Thank goodness non Thai engineering companies test their employee candidates before they hire them.

Seeing is Thaksin is a business man he will sell the grades, 1000 ThB per point sounds about right. That certainly matches his method to keep the voter base uneducated.

Actually if when he does return as he will, it would be good if he took the time to become a qualified teacher and then worked in an upcountry school, or even became a junior university lecturer in business. That would be a better example to set than any he has so far. However, I doubt if he really has this in mind although I hope to be proved wrong. Thailand really could do without some lecture circus like seen in the US.

he also "offered" a scholarship to whoever found his origami litter that he had thrown out of aeroplanes.

only job he is suitable for is driving a tuk tuk in bangkok.

Sure - he has plenty of family in business in BKK - so he would be in his element, "we go to shopping for big discount" special price on jewels today - holiday so all temples closed.

Oh, yes... Buying himself a football team - that was beautiful, he nearly pulled it off. Who else can get the country to pay for his purchase of a foreign football club?
