Grandfathering Wages?

Recommended Posts

I'm interested to read the new wage rules, though I'm not sure how they work... I work at a company (not an english school) where there are a lot of foreigners earning less than 60,000 baht. The starting wage I think is about 50,000. So I suppose that for those people from countries affected, the starting wage will have to be changed to 60,000.

But is this rule grandfathered, so people earning less than 60,000 can continue doing so?

It would be interesting, since it takes about three years for an employee at this company to go from earning 50,000 to 60,000, so people who have a couple years experience will earn less than new employees.

There has been no mention of any grandfathering for this that I am aware of. You either get a raise or you don't qualify for a work permit under the new rules (unless in an exempted category).
