Thais who are employed already have health cover under the Social Security system. Civil servants have it under the Civil Service SS system. All other Thais are covered under the "universal" (AKA "30 baht") scheme. So, all Thais have access to free health care.

If despite this you someone wants to buy private insurance, it will cost the same that it does for a foreigner and most people would not consider it cheap, at least not at a level of cover that makes any sense (e.g. 3 million baht per year which is what you need to be adequately insured for care at a private hospital, makes no sense to plan on it for govt hospital since that is already free for Thais). Depending on the person's age, that will cost anywhere from 21-30,000 baht a year for a 25 - 29  year old to 29-39K a year for a 35-39 year old and on up to 55-65Kk a year for a 55-59 year old.
