Importing Chlorinator Cell From Australia

Featured Replies

My Astralpool/Hurlcon chlorinator cell needs replacing.  The cost I've been quoted here is 14,500 for a genuine spare part but I see there is a choice of generic cells available in Australia where Astralpool is based and before shipping they run around 7,000 baht.  Has anyone here got experience with bringing pool spares in by regular post or EMS (I know DHL/TNT et al will normally result in high duty)?

Assuming $100 for shipping then add import duty and VAT I reckon about 14,000 landed and that for generic.

As they say up to you.......

There should be no duty on import from Australia due to free trade agreement but I reckon those generic cells will have been made in China & the titanium coating will be of poor quality.

Thanks for the info.  There's at least one supplier who claims theirs are made in Aus with plates to match the quality of the originals.  Not the cheapest, but somewhat better than here.
