Poisoned chalice being the chief of police there if they're gonna get transferred every time prostitution is found...

If they done the job right, there would not be enough "Chief's" to cover all the dens of iniquaty.

exactly what I said in my previous post.

This is the Thai's leveraging the Chinese out.

1. it won't open again for 5 years.

2. Only a minority of bars on Soi 6 are owned by Thais.

If it is about leveraging, it's about farangs leveraging Chinese.

the owners were a consortium of Taiwanese, Chinese and Thai nationals.

Deported and blacklisted; that would be the Taiwanese and Chinese. So what happens to the Thai nationals ???????????????????????????????????????

What a stupid lie to say there is no prostitution in Pattaya.

All the gogo bars both Male and female are all prostitution bars. //

I am not an English native speaker so I may be wrong, but it seems to me that many members here give to "prostitution" a different meaning that the "official" one.

Most online dictionaries say something like:

"Occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment"

According to this definition, there is IMHO no prostitution in agogos and in the huge majority of Pattaya's bars. Exceptions could be the like as in Soi 6.

This

Sounds like the police/army in Pattaya are one big joke already.

A sitcom based around a Thai cop shop could be absolutely hilarious.

1- The bar in the OP is in Soi 6, far from Walking Street

2- They didn't say they didn't find hookers, but prostitution,

and despite what many said on this forum (suppose prostitution everywhere on WS), I don't know places on Walking Street where you can have sex. So the policemen may have been right.

Very different in Soi 6 with rooms available over the bars...

"They didn't say they didn't find hookers, but prostitution".... Mate they have live sex acts down walking street.  Just because people arnt humping it up in the middle of the street doesnt mean there arnt transactions going on all around you.  The place is crawling in freelancer bars and gogo bars.  Granted the gentleman in question was all of 2.5km away from Walking street :D.

Maybe, and?  Sex show is not prostitution AFAIK.

Pretty Pathetic considering the reputation of soi 6.

Most of the bars are reputed to be owned by the police anyway.

Actually - if you check the definition of prostitution it is:  "a person, in particular a woman, who engages in sexual activity for payment.".... are you implying they bang on stage for free?

It’s like fining 1 guy fur riding without a helmet while another 100 waiting at the lights not wearing one either

If you are farang it happens all the time!

1- I know; I gave this definition just above . (post #278)

2- Are you implying that Customers are involved in these Sex shows?  Would be very different.

There are no prints on a Thai ID card to my knowledge.  Did you look at your wife's?  Maybe in some kind of chip in the card?  Never noticed.  When I was involved with that stuff the girls traded ID's all the time.  So never thought they had prints or anyone checked them.

No fingerprints are recorded on a thai I'd chip.

Speechless, I really do not know what to make of this. What happens now when social media starts publishing more evidence of this going on.

One thought crosses my mind, do the sacked Police get the 'deposits' back they paid to secure these positions?

How long have you been here? Ever tried getting a deposit back from a Thai?

The more interesting question to ask is why did they stop at only 1 bar and did not check other bars?

They were already there, had the manpower, but yet that was it.

Surely they could see half naked girls with asses hanging out next door and across the road,
If they had a tip-off that this bar had underage girls, then they should rightly focus on that. Other bars are regularly checked but presumably ensure they only employ girls aged 18+.

Presumably checked by the very same police that was removed from active duty , so most likely have a lot more to it then just that ????????

Correct. Most bars, gogos and massage places stick to the terms of their licence. Paying for sexual services is not in itself illegal in Thailand

Was the raid solely aimed at underage ? Or prostitution?

if solely aimed at underage , the only way to know is to check every girl, not to assume all others are legal.

In this bar they found one, so highly unlikely this 1 bar was in business and focusing on employing underage girls .

As I said, bars are regularly checked. Soi 6 bars have been raided many times and most have stopped providing on-site rooms. This bar had obviously upset some people which is why it was targeted. There is nothing illegal about employing scantily clad girls in bars.

I am guessing you do not know what you talking about at all. All provide on site service , but rooms are “rented “ to girls on monthly basis and other guests , girl takes you to her room.

yeah clearly bar upset someone and clearly it was not from the local authorities and clearly that someone who was upset knew what to do, just as that someone and co has gone into hiding .

Where did you get that myth from? Most of the bars are owned by farangs - Brits in particular.

In China a 14 year old can have sex with an adult.

So is it illegal between 2 14 year olds?

They didn't say that.  Thaivisa and an associated blog wrote that, but it was fake news, as so often.

The statement after the Walking Street check was that bars were found to follow regulations.  That's very different from claiming that there's no prostitution, but some blog writers don't care..

IME there is no prostitution takes place in Walking Street. For the prostitution to take place in bars and gogos they would need onsite short time rooms. Most if not all of these have disappeared from Walking Street. The actual prostitution takes place in the privacy of a hotel room, which isn't illegal in Thailand or a number of Western countries.

What if the money changes hands in the bar?

You are planning to prosecute the short time hotel?

It's a question of where the sex takes place, butr your point is probably why it's traditional to pay the girl in the room, not the bar.

A short time hotel is a hotel. Once you have rented the room, what you do in there is your business, hotel is not liable, same as any other hotel.
