Viral video: Wild Thai woman feels the heat as she turns on man filming

A debate is raging in Thai social media after a video of an argument at a department store went viral. 

 

The debate is about people filming in public - should we have a right to film others or is it just being a busy body?

 

The video shows a furious Thai woman - described as wild in the media - who is tearing strips off a security guard for something he is alleged to have done. 

 

She swears repeatedly and turns down his apologies demanding to see the manager. 

 

A member of the public not connected to the incident had been filming it all. The woman then turns on him and a furious exchange of vulgarities results. 

 

She gets her own phone out and it descends into a kind of "mobiles at dawn" standoff. 

 

 

Netizens fell into two camps. One group said it was good that the man had started filming as it would help out the security guard. 

 

But others said that the man should have just minded his own business and let them get on with it rather than make the situation worse. 

 

More than 10,000 views of the video were made said TNews after it was posted on "Jackrich Judkheadkrum" on Facebook. 

 

The story also featured on Thai national TV with the presenters saying it was unclear what had led to the argument.

I thought there was an incoming law about posting pictures or videos on the internet that needed consent from the individuals in the material? I personally find most of it disgusting, same as way too many CC tv cameras put up by the man. Hopefully this starts a movement on privacy rights. And that goes for foreigners having to check in for every trip outside of home.

I wonder will they ever grasp the etiquette of the mobile communication device and the buffalo less carriage (2 and 4 wheel)? Seems to have stumped them so far. Seems to cause more conflict than convenience.

How could anyone even take a selfi without violating everyone in the bg "privacy"? Point being, if people expect privacy in public, what you really would need to do is ban public photography essentially. I do not see any other way.

If that was the case no film of idiot driver from dash cams would be allowed, filming in public is OK but on public property like shopping centres probably not

On all the entrance doors of the shopping centers of Thailand, small as well as very big, there are big stickers which prohibit you to photograph, to film, to enter with arms, etc ...

Every Tom, Dick and Harry is either photographing something/somebody, themselves or video recording every argument or stupid act! 

If these peopke actually had something to do, they woukdn't have the time to stand around making videos of every bloody incident!

Good thing he filmed. The less people think (and do) get away with, the better.

 

I had a similar incident in my own country a few years back, where a woman out of the blue claimed my friend had stolen money from her in a shopping mall. She confronted him outside and started screaming like a maniac.

 

When the police arrived, she tried to claim he had pushed and hit her. Luckily, a guy stepped forward and revealed he had filmed the whole encounter from his car, which proved my friend had done no such thing. Additionally, a review of the security footage from the mall showed that he had been nowhere near the woman during his time in the mall. She was sentenced to a fairly hefty fine.
