Do the MPs have to declare all pecuniary interests in a parliamentary register which needs to be updated each time they acquire any assets?

Would it have been a reasonable idea for all those in both houses to have show and declare all assets prior to taking their places in parliament, also declaring how they acquired assets?

They talk about prosecuting government officials, what about those in business who do the "corrupting"?

17 years and I have been hearing the same nonsense from so many. Excuse me about my skepticism. With sensationalist statements like this you can't help that people are laughing at bit. You need a complete mindset change in society here and that is as likely at the TAT admitting they are failing.

Somkid's dead pan poker face is enough to scare anyone.    How can you tell he is lying ?  Multiple stroke survivors have more facial expressions than this guy.   If you want your money to go missing, talk to these junta trough minders.

Again, pathetic! You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time!

Apparently, in this country ................. you can!

The Thai people aren't (completely) stupid.

They are not being fooled, even the average man in the street is aware that corruption goes right through all levels of government and indeed daily industry. However, they regard it as a normal part of life in Thailand. As long as they are happy with their place in the system (they learn this as children in school) they are not likely to rail against what they consider the norm. Ministers pretending that they are going to change this corruption is just part of the game.

Corruption here is in your face for us foreigners. We forget that no country is immune.

In Australia politicians are in bed with big business, and not just because they are good friends. They push legislation and agendas designed to feather the nests of their "mates" even If it is destroying the planet's ecology. . They know there is a highly paid consultancy awaiting them when they retire from the game.

Also, Local Government there is rife with backhanders for approving building projects. Seemingly lowly paid mayor and councilor jobs are highly sought after and regarded as a path to riches.

In the US the system involving lobbyists rarely pretends to hide the bribery and corruption.

I prefer the Thai system because it's more transparent and cheaper.

While Yutthapong was questioning the government’s anti-corruption policy, Prayut informed the House that he needed to leave to attend a meeting with the head of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

Prayut, looking at his 7 Mio Patek: "Gotta go meet with the airplanes"

Everyone knows everything, it's all so transparent, especially the PM's schedule.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha had not done anything to crack down on corruption during his five years in power.

Not quite true, he did crack down on corruption somewhat when it would look good, though he abetted corruption in his own camp. That's a perk for coup leaders.

Enforcing  rules that already  exist  are pushing people away and kicking people  out.

At least taksin knows that tourism and foreign investment is gold for him and the thai people.

Sometimes  need a businessman to run a country  and a solider to run  security
