Do you find that you and your family take less domestic vacations and trips out of the province, now that the TM-30's are being enforced?

Would you be willing to take more trips domestically and spend more money in country, if the TM-30 was abolished?

Is it just the hassle of having to report to immigration upon your return home that keeps you from taking these trips?

 

Not all Immigration offices are enforcing the rule where you have to submit a new report after a trip within Thailand.  I suspect it will be dropped nationally soon.

But, with all the publicity and headlines this subject is making. Maybe most don't know if they are subject to it or not. I am not even sure if my Province wants one after a week long trip domestically. After all, the hotels are going to report me as staying there. Something I will have to check during my next visit to immigration.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest as I was told by my IO that it's re entry to the country or moving place of residence to another province ONLY.

 

Of course others may vary as is the norm for Thailand.

I have yet to do or test the immigration office on this, i.e. I am exiting the country in October for 3 weeks and was told that I will have to report to the cops in the area I am entering into Thailand as I will stay there for a week before I return home, immigration want a letter from the cops that I reported myself there, then I have to report to immigration here when I get back, hour 20 drive each way, so I will suck it in and do as the man asks, no issue really, make a day off it, lunch, shopping etc etc.

 

We were on holiday in another province in May as when I asked Ubonjoe, he said not all immigration officers need you to do a TM30 domestically, even though we stayed in a hotel, naturally the would have let them know by filing a TM30 we didn't even know we had to lodge a TM30 upon our return, i.e. if I have to, but as my 90 days is up soon, we will ask them the question, and if they say yes and we are fined, which I doubt, because the guys there are ok, then they can deal with my wife, cops lower their heads when she speaks, hopefully these guys won't have to, because she is now a farang, i.e. has balls....lol

 

Let us know how you go and which immigration office you go to so we can all update, i.e. mine at yiatta yiatta doesn't need a TM30 at bla bla and maybe we can make a post, e.g. Which Immigration officers need a TM 30 fro domestic travels.

No. Went to CW to get the elusive username/password for the app. Takes 2 minutes to update after returning home from a hotel stay or flight abroad.

Before i stayed in Udon, now in Chiang Mai, both immigration offices don't require a new TM30 after travelling to another province, so it doesn't have any impact on domestic travels for me.

I agree it’s ridiculous but not going to waste my time thinking about any logic to it. With any luck they will eventually scrap it but either way life is too short for me to spend any more than 2 minutes thinking about it once I return to our home and click on the phone app.

Personally I have never done one in 7 years. Stay in a BKK hotel coming into the country. Go see the wife for a couple of weeks and stay in a BKK hotel on the way back to work. Guess Immigration think I stay in BKK for the duration. I asked wifey about the TM 30 thing....no idea whatsoever and I doubt any other person around here has either. I have zero interaction with immigration apart from passport control at Suvarnabhumi.

Non event as far as I'm concerned. If I get fined a couple of hundred bucks so be it. Maybe I'll change my behaviour after that. Not likely though!!

I hope you are right about it being dropped but unfortunately it is becoming popular !!

This week in two separate cases of foreigners being caught for criminal activity their landlords were also fined for not registering the foreigner at their address.
( 1 was the Algerians on the BTS story, I forget the other ).

What next ?
A minor traffic accident and the BIB will be checking your landlord/wife/gf for TM 30 enforcement ??

If it means money changing hands then very likely !!

Certainly, I hope you are correct. A good deal of issues with immigration requirements come from not having clear, enforced regulations coming out of Bangkok. ALL offices across Thailand should be enforcing the Thai law as required by the Immigration Head Office in Bangkok. No more of this, we'll, today in this office we will very our interpretation of the law/regulation.

Hmm, we are hearing a conflicting report from you as many have been told by Chiang Mai Immigration that a TM-30 is required each time you spend any nights outside the province. I do not doubt what your experience has been. I tell newcomers that you can be told different things at different offices or even within the same office. A large part of our confusion.

i  have no intention of going to Immigration every time I make a domestic trip-  the hotel I stay should file the TM 30.  My 90 day reports reflect my address which is the same as my original TM 30 in my passport.   If that is not enough- the IO can tell me what he wants at my next extension.

No doubt you have read the newspaper this morning (online too). I read this morning that although it was admitted that there are problems with the TM 30, a police spokesman said the TM 30 will continue to be enforced. No doubt this will appear on TV forum later today.

I think what some expats object to is being fined at the same time as being told what should be done.

I have decided to travel more and instead of going to immigration every 3 months i will leave the country more often and spend my money outside .

 

And i just dont do tm30. No way. None of my business.

 

I will sleep and stay where i want no matter where i am.

 

If a hotel or appartment im  at signs me up, fine, if not, i couldnt care less.

It would help a lot if the rules were published in a correct and simple way.

For example the newspaper which may not be linked to has put a graphic in their newest article, which is supposed to explain TM30, but this graphic is giving wrong information in every single paragraph, and it even says "Source: Immigration Bureau", this just leads to further confusion.

Yes. I don't travel domestically or internationally so much. Before used to go whenever we fancied. Now, with the hassle of trooping off to immigration the day after we get back, with all the copies, and hanging around so an IO can eventually spend several minutes staring at the same information they already have!

 

Can't be bothered so only travel now if good reason.

Life in Thailand is not as easy as it use to be. TM 30 I consider to be too much, It is not worthy of Thailand to treat foreigners in that way.

You are very lucky then. You'd certainly be pulled up at Pathumthani IO where it's rigorously enforced.

Never ever completed or returned one and not going to start. Not doing extensions though so maybe not applicable. Don't know , and not really bothered.

Been over to Laos 3 times in as many weeks moving my personal stuff.  Don't do TM-30 when I return to my rented house.  Not a problem for me because I'll be gone from Thailand in exactly 12 days.  I'm on an Elite visa.

With the exchange rate as it is i cant  afford to travel nothing to do with reporting

I find myself feeling almost like a prisoner.

 

I rent a house, as I cannot buy one. Can’t and never stayed in a condo.

 

i like travelling in and out of Thailand. But the TM-30 makes my landlord, annoyed and frustrated as he is often busy with his own business affairs.

 

It is making me fearful of even thinking of going out of my house for a weekend in and out of the country, and afraid to even breach the subject with my landlord.

 

I truly hope the authority find a decent and practical solution.

I am a 69 years old retiree and not sure how much of a risk I represent to Thailand.

I would be even willing to wear a bracelet or something that constantly report my location. I am sure my cell phone does that already.

Phuket,yes because my house owner is 30 km away,to much problem,before pattaya and bkk 4 or 5 trip a year,now i go patong and come back home,but i save a lot of money,nothing is perfect but i have to look at the positive way,save money,ha,ha
