BANGKOK, 5th August 2019 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has thanked the security authorities for ensuring the safety of people, emphasizing that the activists have not affected the economy or tourism.

Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat, a Government Spokesperson, disclosed that Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had thanked police officers and security personnel for working to ensure public safety, as well as members of the media for helping to verify the information. She confirmed that the police and the security authorities can control the situation. The Prime Minister confirmed that the incidents have not affected the economy or tourism since foreigners have not been warned against nor forbidden from visiting Thailand and only some countries have advised their people to be cautious.

The Prime Minister has assured foreign representatives visiting Thailand such as the high-level representatives of the European Union and the United States Secretary of State, that the Thai government can control the situation. The foreign representatives understand and are not worried about the recent development. They still have confidence in the government and Thailand.

After the bombing incidents in many spots, the authorities have accelerated their investigations. Security authorities including police and military officers have thoroughly beefed up security measures at numerous places. People are advised that the government will continue to do its best to rapidly solve the situation and ensure people’s safety.

Agree. The insurgency is marginal. The bombings' effect will quickly fade. More destructive remains the currency. Look at the Chinese Yuan today. It has collapsed. Nothing you can do to reassure about that.

How do you know it will fade?It could escalate, there could be more bombings,it's only been a few days which is hardly enough time for effects to be felt and documented.Seems like a case of politicians moving their lips which is a sure sigh they're lying and praying the situation doesn't get worse rather than them actually "controlling" the situation. The only thing the have control over is the spin they put out and even then control is dubious.

The Erawan Shrine bombing killed 20 people and it barely made a ripple with tourism. You are going to need a body count to get the interest of foreign countries and tourist agencies. And I just don't see something like Erawan on the horizon again. Any sustained terror campaign from the south and you would find the Thai military marching through there like Sherman to the sea.

yeah, but a falling Yuan might have an effect.  maybe.

Yes but a positive one. The Chinese wont buy USD but they have been and still are buying THB as its the best performing currency in Asia.

I see your point, maybe the plan might be to get the Thai military to march through there as I'm sure that would focus global attention on the area and it's problems and if the Yuan is collapsing that shirely doesn't bode well for it's dependant neighbors.

There have been no government warnings about the bombings but they are in the Western press reports.

Insurgency?  What insurgency?  Has there been a new definition?

"Minor incidents have not affected anything.'  More like it.

How can you make such a statement about it. Most of the tourist have planned a trip to Bangkok a few weeks in advance not just a few days.

Won't make any difference because tourism is shit anyway!!!Most big tourists places are like ghost towns anyway!!!

There are several attacks in the southern provinces every week.  Yet I don't see the Thai military launching full scale attacks on anything.

The reports must be hidden as I wasn’t able to find them, or hear anything about it on Thai tv news, that all went quiet real quick?
