Hotmail! Junk Mail From “my Contacts” ?

Featured Replies

Hi !

The last couple of weeks I have been getting “Junk mail” listed under “My Contacts”

This is in the log-in page where it tells you what messages are in your “In-Box”

Normally only mail from people in my address book would be listed as from “My Contacts” but recently “Junk” has been listed as “My Contacts”

Any idea what is going on?

I've received about 4 of these in the last 2 weeks. The spammers are getting smarter. Try to avoid typing your email address on unsecured sites. This goes for any website...if your email address is 'typed' on it (part of html), any spam bot can find it. Also, make sure that your cache & cookies are cleared when either your computer starts up or you shut down your browser. For this reason, I like Firefox.

Also I'd suggest dumping hotmail and go for a Gmail account, their spam filtering is far better IMHO and you can also set up your own filters, Importing your contact & address book from hotmail is also very easy.

Send a PM if you want a gmail invite, however I think its open to eveyone now anyways.

Thanks for the replies.

I have never put this Hotmail address on any anything so don’t know how the spammers could have got hold of it. :D

Pure random generated email addresses.

When there's a bazillion Hotmail addresses its easy to hit live ones that way.
