Rentals In Khon Kaen

My husband and I are going to be living in Khon Kaen for a year starting May 1 and we would like to rent a furnished condo near the center of town -- something like a serviced apartment as in Bangkok. We could also rent a house but would really prefer a condo.

I have looked at links on this website but only find houses for sale.

Does anyone have any suggestions for us as to how to go about finding something? Do farang in Khon Kaen use realtors? Or???

Thanks in advance for any insights.

I don't know what a realtor is but I guess you mean someone who finds you an apartment. No, farang don't use them.

What size of condo? How much are you willing to spend?

piman condo on the bung (lake) is the only one in town. Not sure if it is furnished.

House and bungalow rentals are very very reasonable in KKC in comparison with BKK. 10,000 up for a bungalow come house.

Thank you both for the replies. We want at least two bedrooms with a living area and a couple of bathrooms and some sort of kitchen. If we rent a bungalow/house, do you think we can find something furnished?

We are both going to be teaching at the Khon Kaen Wittayayon on Klang Muang and will not have a car. So, we hope to find a place that is convenient to the sawng thaeows. We will arrive in Khon Kaen the end of April and need to start looking right away.

I guess the big question is: how do you start looking? In Bangkok, there are advertisements in the Bangkok Post as well as lots of things on the web. When I tried a web search for KKC, I didn't have much luck. The price in KKC does seem right and we can go above 10,000.

Are you going to be working in the EP? If so, contact Chai and ask for help in locating a place.

Someone at the school should be able to find places for you to look at when you get here.

10k is on the high side. You can find places that match what you want for closer to 5k.

There are agencies that will help you find a place. Someone where I work used one and found a nice place for 4.5k. He's on vacation in the UK at present, so I can't help you with a number.

Good luck.

Thank you for the response and the suggestion. We are indeed going to be working in the EP and should have thought about Chai. Overlooking a great source of help, I guess :o

Sounds like you live in Khon Kaen and are familiar with the school but work somewhere else. Is that right? Hope to meet you when we're there.

When you get to KKC, I can put you in contact with some people who can help you out. Furnished is available,
