arrived and deport at Don Mueng airport

On 24 July 2019, my colleague and I landed at Don Mueang at 9.30am (Thailand time). Once we stepped out of the aeroplane and was walking out on the aerobridge, we were stopped by 6 Thai Immigration POLICE who were waiting there ; we were questioned.

From 1 room to another, mug shots of our faces were taken and we were forced to sign on papers and record books which we were not allowed to ask questions or have them explain to us the contents as all in Thai language, they ignored us.

From the immigration detention room up till the airline officers for deportation back to Malaysia, without any reasons whatsoever, we were treated poorly as if we had done something terrible. Our passports were detained from the very beginning at the thai airport until we reach back KLIA where our passports were then given back to us.

We were not aware of the min Baht we had to bring into Thailand despite telling them to take us to their ATM and we can produce the cash not to mention we have credit cards, they refused to entertain us.

It’s not uncommon now for immigration to randomly check passengers as they get off the plane. I’ve seen it a few times this year. Never in the past.

I would bet it happens more coming from certain locations.

Not saying the OP’s story is true, but it’s possible.

1st Arrivals? or Returning to LOS from malaysia? Repeated trips?

Anything untoward happen during the flight?

ID'd by the crew for something?

now that you're safe (wherever you are now) take a good photo or scans of relevant page(s) from your Passport(s).

Once there are enough pieces of the puzzle...someone might be then able here to venture forward with constructive opinion?

Try to recount here what the questions were made towards you both? Brainstorm yourselves what you both heard...

Not on the airbridge it isn't.

It could not happen as reported.  if it was a bust, the Police inevitably tell the pax to stay in their seats until the suspects are taken off, that is for their own security. You can't arrest people on an airbridge when 200 + other people are trying to get off and into the terminal.  If it was a routine Immigration issue, it would have been picked up at the immigration point. The report, if that's what it is, makes no sense at all.

"they refused to entertain us" - did you guys expect them to play a ping-pong show at the gate while waiting for your planes?

If your post is legit, the ill treatment by immigration at airports has become a disgrace...Thailand's move for control over immigration...is going to cost them dearly in the pocketbook...

Perhaps there were some police just wandering around or on general security (watching for left baggage, crowd control, etc)?

And perhaps they noticed these two and thought they looked like a security risk. So questioned them.

This is most likely a troll post. Immigration would not wait for you unless there was a warrent for you. If there had been a warrent you would have been arrested and not just sent back.

There is a lot more to this story .

There are so many new members creating just one post and never reply to all the answers. It sounds fishy to me.

Do you think 6 Thai officers are so free to wait for you to arrest you just because you don't have enough money to go into Thailand?

Unless you committed a serious crime like terrorism, encouraging separatism etc. or known overstayers.

There are thousands of tourists everyday who they don't check whether they have enough money or not.

Firstly i have seen personally immigration police officers on the walkways watching people, so it is plausible to be stopped.

What country are you from? most certainly not Malaysia as you would have said back home.

It is possible immigration was waiting for your arrival as they were alerted and would explain swift deportation and refusal to listen to anything you had to say.

The 'never happened to me, never seen it happen and all immigration officers in all countries arrest suspects in their seats or at the immigration gates so must be a troll' post-of-the-day award goes to...

I concur with BestB. Have seen many times a group of uniformed people standing and watching disembarking passengers at either end of the rather long metal corridor connecting the plane door with the airport building (not sure if it is termed exactly "airbridge" - never met this word before). They looked like they were ready to grab someone.

Ready to grab somebody.

Doesn't that convey a sense of pre-knowledge about someone who is not a welcome guest?

You assuming OP knows the difference ????

Or his ar*e from his elbow.

It's nonsense. Having said that, they at least didn't let them get to immigration and send them to the back of the queue for not filling in a TM6 hey? ????

The 'metal corridor' as you describe it is the airbridge, or aerobridge, or in some airports a Jetway.  It has many different names, but does the same thing, as a movable, steerable connector, from aircraft door to the terminal.

And that was precisely the point, they may have been waiting due to being alerted.

May be alert was not to detain but to send back, may be OP's crime was not major enough to have the warrant for arrest but serious enough to for counter parts to be contacted.

Just do not see the reason for OP to make story like this, as it serves no benefit

Nowhere in his story he said that the immigration asked to see cash but at the end he talks about wanting to go to the ATM.

I think the story goes like this : IO asks if they have 20K THB, they say no, instant deportation.

It wasn't just instant deportation without asking anything.

I got the same treatment, they asked me for 20K THB, I had 7K THB in cash and tons of credit cards, he said only cash allowed, instantly deported.

I was checked exactly the same way in China. But not deported.  Strange experience.

Obviously something new and different is going on at immigration within this whole country.  Drastically new changes that are not good.  I think it is beyond rude for posters to just immediately jump on people and call them trolls just because you, yourself, have not experienced this.  You don’t stay all day, every day, in an airport do you??

I had something beyond shocking happen to me by airport immigration, that is a definite crime, when I was leaving Thailand last year.  I have not posted about it because I suppose it will get deleted due to defamation laws.  I keep thinking about posting it in some kind of general way though as a warning to others.  I flew in and out for 14 years and had no problems, I was not targeted because I look like I can’t pay my way here, I think the opposite, I was targeted because I do have money.

Anyway, it seems obvious to me that newbies who are not vested in living here will find their way to this forum with odd stories of odd things that are starting to happen, so it might be nice if you don’t attack them so you can attempt to look smarter than everyone else.

Think how you would feel if you were just victimized and then you come to post about it and a bunch of yahoos attack you here???  They don’t know about this secret society and how mean we are!!

Numerous posts removed for baiting, bickering and trolling.

Sharing is caring.

I have seen it in Thailand, at the very end of the bridge. It also happened to me once in Paris, also at the end of the bridge, I was just asked my passport and they asked where I was going, he didn't use any system to check my info either, said Holland with the train and then they let me walk. Formal immigration took only seconds.

Aside of this story being true or not, I notice them everywhere nowadays, it feels uncomfortable even you know to be legit.
Same with the dodgy check points in BKK at night nowadays, always passed trough but seen farangs stripping down to underwear on the street at 3AM.

No, but where I’ve seen it happen is on the walkway as you go to immigration. After you get off of the airbridge. However, I have seen someone get arrested on the airbridge.

I have flown in to Bangkok and witnessed Immigration officers stopping people on the air bridge on more than one occasion. As I recall, at least one time they seemed to be stopping all of the young (20 something) Indian / Indian-looking males. So it's not a tall story at all!
