Closing replies to posts? Is this becoming more prevalent?

I have noticed recently that many Posts are being closed for commenting early in the posting stage.

Having been a member for nearly 10 years, I've not seen this so prevalent as it is now, or have I just not noticed?

 

Anyone else noticed this? and anyone know the reason (besides the obvious, abuse etc)?

 

I quite enjoy reading the replies, and often get useful information.

I haven't noticed this becoming more prevalent recently. I assume you mean threads closed, not posts.

Comment on Moderation in violation of forum rule 10.
