Seems like there are a lot of old men on this site who are easily triggered by a young female with an opinion.

The answer is very simple, she started it up by her self and then get supported of thiousands of, mostly youngsters, all of the world, that just like her, asked for a fair life for their generation. What is the wrong in that?

Well...ehh....not quite. Sort of.

She went on strike by herself but the idea of a school strike was hatched by someone else. If I understand it correctly she asked a group of friends if they wanted to join but no one was interested. Eventually she went on strike by herself. Very quickly she got support from a PR agency.

But I don't agree with the cause, there's an underlying reason for her political support. Money.

To be perfectly honest, I feel rather relaxed and quite happy with the level of youth contempt and rebellion represented by what is quite clearly, even to the psychologically untrained eye, an innocent and identity-seeking child. Without agreeing with her cause, I find her incredibly refreshing, committed and charming. Good luck to her.

It's the adults exploiting her for reasons she fail to comprehend I can't stand.

Because of course how could a sixteen year old possibly hold opinions of their own, let alone choose of their own free will to act upon them.

That’s a tad unkind, some of those offended by a young female with an opinion are not that old.

Her achievement and her message is receiving wide coverage across news channels and the internet.

Importantly she has the attention of her own generation.

Less importantly she has the attention of the handful of TVF menders who are triggered into bitter cynicism by any and all positive environmental news, let alone any positive news of our young.

The swivel eyed teenage loon is speading an elitist anti people toxic message and is being manipulated by big business, especially the big energy companies and is being used by her parents.

‘Swivel eyed’ you say.

Obviously it took no carbon footprint of any kind to build such a sailboat. I guess she has a point we should all have boats commissioned to be built to get across the oceans. I think she would have probably used less energy flying coach. It seems these sort of people are allergic to that idea.

Don't forget all the plastic water bottles she brought along too.

Hypocrisy personified.

Why set yourself up without thinking it through, Boon? Highly likely they had a desalination pump. This would probably be how these racing yachts roll to keep weight down etc. It is also HIGHLY likely she will not be flying home, since she does not fly.

Look, she's not my favourite and I find it all a bit fluffy of today's young, but it takes a big pair of balls to get on a boat and cross the Atlantic (whatever the motive) - that she didn't do it single-handed (c'mon!) means not one jot. As to how it was made and any other associated manpower, who gives a F. If the message gets through, that is good enough.

After climate, I hope she focuses on people (esp China and India) and the need to depopulate, followed by the monetary system. That'll really get the elite nobs going.

Just so you know she is autstic they tend to look that way what a bunch of sorry old duffers you go kiddo

But then: some of the most 'confused' members of ThaiVisa tend to hold in older age the same weird opinions they had when they were 16.

It isn't her message.

Her public pronouncements are being managed as carefully as a drone strike, by a group of career climate activists, notably Jennifer Morgan, who has worked with Greenpeace, WWF, Third Generation Environmentalism, US Climate Action Network, European Business Council for Sustainable Energy, New Climate Economy etc etc.

The unfortunate Greta is being used as a human shield to push extreme environmental policies which she probably barely understands, whose every utterance is the second-hand opinion of alarmist grown-ups whose doomsday claims she is completely unequipped to assess.

Mere emotional blackmail from the "progressive" Green/Left. It's what they do.

One may wonder why you ONLY post on the subject of climate. Is there something about you that you are not sharing?

Yes. Big Green is once again on the attack against the impoverished Fossil Fuel Industry and the destitute Petrostates. It's just not fair!

No, the common theme demonisation of a female with an opinion. Quite a few blokes here really struggle with the concept, let alone the reality.

Love the emotive language though 'EXTREMIST!!!', like she's going to blow up something shortly. She sailed a boat across the Atlantic <deleted>. Hardly extremist.

You seem to be confusing the word extremist with the word terrorist. Nobody is calling her a terrorist. A lot of the views she has been force fed could be considered fairly extreme IMO.

She seems a nice enough kid, but I can't help thinking she should be out having fun with her friends at that age rather than being promoted as some kind of Messiah by the Climate Change cultists, especially given her mental health issues described by her parents.

There you go again. She's on the autism spectrum, which is entirely different to mental health issues.

Sure she should be out with her mates, and maybe she would if believed that there weren't bigger issues than her. Cutting people down like this in Australia is know as the tall poppy syndrome and says more about the critic than the intended target.

The unproven 'mental health' term has been used as a smear by her critics.

I will start listening to these climate change warriers etc as soon as they go to China,India N Korea etc and demonstrate there.
But when all they do is swan around in London( just like i used to back in the 60s, then i got a life) i dont give them the time of day.

That is one of the scariest videos I've ever seen. One can only hope she receives the support she needs in order to escape the hype.

So sad.
