8. A Police Clearance certificated by a police station and signed by an authorized police officer.

For these certificates, is it usually enough to have a Thai police clearance certificate? Or do visa applications usually need one from their home country?

I am from the US, hold a US passport, and have stayed in Thailand a few years.

My daughter applied for a teaching post in China and required a criminal history check. We went to Bangkok in person. She was interviewed and fingerprinted. The process took around 30 minutes and was simple. However, the certificate took 10 weeks to produce.

You need to get one from the USA even if you stayed in Thailand for a few years. This is to prevent offenders from coming into Thailand.

Not sure about whether you need one in Thailand too. They might be able to check on their own system.

Since he has been here for a few years he would already have given the immigration a police clearance from the USA, if he hasn't left in the meantime I would assume he would only need a Thai police clearance, Why not ask the authorities what they want?

Believe it or not, those on border or tourist visa runs for several years do NOT need to give police clearance.

Immigration is wising up and cracking down on this group of people.

You have intimate knowledge of the Myanmar requirements?

that's if you follow the written procedures.

there's a link on the police website for expedited (under a week?) for a fee of 4400 baht (i think).

the police lady that took my application offered one week service for 2500 baht.

strange that a limited-duration ed visa requires a police clearance, but a non-o change from tourist visa applied for in country for essentially lifetime retirement does not.
