They haven't prevented them from working, have they?  If they have you didn't say that.

No, they haven't.

But they have prevented them from making any noise after 8pm,

which I was very happy about.

Any more noise and it's another call to head of juristic.

No more half measures.

This is what I learned from my wife: There are different types (coloured) areas, e.g. for houses, business, factories etc. Factories are not permitted in or next to "housing" areas and people are not allowed to carryout factory-like goings on in mobans, sois built for houses or apartment complexes.

Go to your local government office for a better explanation of what is allowed in these "coloured" areas.

Is this enshrined in law or not?

If it is and it continues to happen I may need to go even further in the future,

though I am hoping that it is the end of the matter now.

I pity the posters on this forum who live in constant fear of upsetting a Thai.

Thais after all are people like everyone else.

Some agreeable, some not so and some down right unpleasant.

People are people and rudeness is rudeness wherever you go.

If a man cannot stand his ground on his own property, is he really a man?

I'm not so sure.

The call to the authorities to solve a minor problem

The scale of the problem is open to interpretation.

I don't consider a factory next to my house with 7 staff moving boxes around all day & night, slamming and sliding doors, and vans and trucks coming and going constantly a 'minor problem.'

If you do then fine. I hope you never have to go through this yourself.

I acted the way I did because it was the right thing to do for me.

Yesterday I was busy taking photos of the goings on with the factory next door.

I managed to get plenty Hi-res shots of the staff coming and going, vans and trucks pulling up outside my house all day

and even managed to a good pic of the dudes red number plate to send to the relevant authorities.

All of this was discretely passed onto the head of security for my complex late last night.

Take secret photos of people and not ask them?

Yinn, you are wrong again.

I have not stopped them from being able to work.

Merely stopped them from parking in front of my house, blocking me in my own yard and making noise with their tools from 8pm onwards.

Isn't making noise at 2am selfish for the people trying to sleep next door??

No you FOOL its Thainess, honestly what is  it with you falangs.????

If it was as bad as you say it is why didn't your neighbours also join your in your crusade?

I have a niggling feeling that once this matter is settled (and it appears to be so far) you will find something else to whinge about.

To pay for the grievance or to take revenge. Basically you must pay for the grievance you have caused.

The dumbest thing you could have done is to go along . Now your neighbors know who is causing them loss of income and inconvenience.

do you know what happens to people in Thailand who make other people to lose money ?

Not today, not tomorrow but expect for bigger problems to come one way or another

Glad it all worked out for you, I have a duty-free cigarette smuggling safe house next to me, pickups and SUV’s arrive in the early morning or late at night, although they don’t present a problem, I know how you feel.

Good to see that something can be done and that somepeople don’t  know it all.

I'd be keen on a few sleeves of ciggies if you can hook me up.

The head of the juristic has been down, along with the village headman to speak to the occupiers personally.

They also asked me to join them, which I did.

There goes the "discreetly" part. Why did you need to be there? If what they were doing was illegal the authorities should had told them to stop, they did not need your presence.

IMO the authorities needed you there to show that it was not them but it was you.

Hi Yinn..

May I introduce you to the character of 'Walter Mitty'?Check it out on Google.

If you run away and inhabit far off exotic lands then you can be a 'Walter Mitty' and no-one can gainsay you.

People may say they come for the sex or the temples...

But most of them come to be a 'Walter Mitty'
