1178

I've called 1178 many times (English version) and only put on hold.  No one ever came on the phone.   Is there a good time to call or do they ever answer the English version?

Been married over 40 years, but no Thai wife ???? to help with the Thai version of help line.  Thanks.

Just saw this article in The Phuket News

Phuket Immigration confirms bank balance, income ‘combo’ for O-A permit to stay still available

https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-immigration-confirms-bank-balance-income-combo-for-o-a-permit-to-stay-still-available-73280.php

So it looks like they are backing down and accepting the combo method for everyone.  If you read the article it looks like the reporter doesn't know the difference between O-A retirement and O extension for retirement.  So I am assuming that combo method is okay for O extension?  Any thoughts.

And thank you.

To clarify the above, Phuket immigration told some other Phuket posters that they were not accepting combo method from Americans, Brits and Australians.  Now they are saying that they will accept combo method for income from everyone??

When I was there 2 weeks ago the sign out front didn't say anything about excluding any nationalities.

Yes of course. They mean both O and OA. Let's hope they don't mean to include O in regards to health insurance requirements when they say OA though.

Good point. It's not about nationalities per se but based on having an income letter or not as some nationalities can no longer get them. Without income letter those applications are a lot more complicated. Definitely worth getting clarification.

Phuket Immigration changed their opinion about the combination option.

First it was not possible for people from the USA, UK or Australia to use the combination option when applying a extension based on retirement.

Now they say that they will consider the combination option but it will be decided on a case by case basis.

This will unfortunately not mean that the combination option will always be possible.
