Hard Brexit is a very clear distinction with that of Soft Brexit. Now Hard Brexiteers may dismiss Soft Brexit as a not-really Brexit (they are entitled to their opinion), but the really insidious aspect of the current complaints from the Hard Brexit crowd and their being offended, is a purely political play. They are trying very hard to hold on to the outright lie that Hard Brexit (no-deal) was voted on at the referendum. And for that, any distinction between Hard and Soft Brexit needs to be erased. And from that and that only emerges the dishonest complaints of being offended.

Deals were discussed before the referendum. A broad brush view of a deal that would favour the UK and give us everything that we wanted from the EU and nothing that we didn't want was continuously pushed by both Brexit camps.

 

The phlosophy of "If you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it" was extensively used by Banks/Farage and Johnson/Cummings using AIQ and Cambridge Analytica as their tools. It appears to have been an exrtemely successful technique.

 

Talks of a no deal Brexit and the EU driving a hard bargain in talks, were postulated by the remain campaign but were repeatedly quoshed by the Brexit camps as "Project Fear" (more, if you tell a lie often enough...), so much so that "Project Fear" became a byword for any notion that opposed the Brexit message.

 

Today most people who have shaken off the brainwashing campaign inflicted on them, realise that "Project Fear" was a fantasy. Indeed, we are now left with a choice between May's deal (a result of hard bargaining by the EU) and a no deal Brexit, dismissed as project fear during the election campaign. What happened to the deal that would give us everything we wanted from Brexit, as promised by the leave campaign? Rumour has it that it rode off into the sunset on a pink unicorn.

 

 So what is Cummings repeated message for the gullible now? "We had a referendum and the people have spoken", " If the will of the people isn't carried out it will be the death of democracy in the UK",

" The people's choice in the referendum must be enacted before any other referendums are held".

 

Of course, complete rehtorical propoganda, not based on any logic or the laws of the land but "If you repeat a lie often enough people will believe it".

This is the rabid remainer spin, going back three years (for no reason) to a time when there was no deal on the table at all.  There was no deal in reality, then or now. There is only this EU-penned treaty that May gave way to, as her time was running out.

There is a world of difference between no deal (ie no specific deal) and no-deal (crashing out). Any Hard Brexiteer pushing that they are the same, well, it is difficult to think that they are that shallow to confuse the two, or even shallower to think that they can get away with deliberate confusion. But there it is.

All talk of a deal prior to the referendum was about a trade deal.

 

Remainers have successfully transformed that "deal or no deal" conversation into talk about a withdrawal deal which was never discussed before the referendum, May and Barnier dreamt it up some time in early 2017 along with the joke about 39 Billion pounds for SFA.

 

We could never get a trade deal before we left anyway. So let's leave and then work on a trade deal, as was always the plan. The EU minds will be more focused once we've left and they realize the reality of tariffs on a 69 Billion annual trade surplus.
