Fourteen brands have been named the most influential among Gen Y consumers in Thailand by Influential Brands® (Singapore) and Neo Target in a report on Wednesday.

They are Lazada, Grab Taxi, The Mall, Central, Cafe Amazon, Auntie Anne's, Krispy Kreme, Mister Donut, Watson, Taokaenoi, Jobthai.com, Acer Computer, S&P and Makro.

The report was released in the lead up to the “2019 Asia CEO Summit & Award Ceremony” where hundreds of business professionals, both from Thailand and overseas, gather to celebrate the best in business excellence.

Regarding the award selection criteria, founder & CEO of Neo Target Vannee Leelavechbutr said.

Neo Target and Influential Brands®, a think-tank with over 20 years of branding knowledge and expertise in Asia, had joined forces with SuanDusit Poll to conduct a survey specifically focusing on Generation Y in Thailand. Neo Target is a brand reputation communications consulting agency based in Bangkok.

Gen Y or millennials are recognised as the pivotal group in terms of making the most fundamental impact on the world over the next 20 years, as they tend to have higher incomes compared to the other generations. Asia, in particular, has more than one billion millennials or approximately 86 per cent of the world’s total Gen Y population.

Jorge Rodriguez, Managing Director of Influential Brands LLP, said the Influential Brands Awards also recognises the Champions of Excellence in several other categories such as Top CEO, Influential Women, Outstanding Leader, Top Employer Brands, and Outstanding Brands.

Renowned Thai corporations –Sian Kubota, Gunkul Power Development Co Ltd, Southeast Life Insurance Plc and S31 Sukhumvit Hoteland Hansar Hotel have been selected this year’s awardees. However, Thai brands are not the only ones earning the acknowledge.

Business executives, entrepreneurs, as well as representatives from various brands throughout Asia will travel to Bangkok for the ceremony and collect their well-earned accolades. Some of the big names include Swarovski (Singapore), Air Asia (Malaysia), Adidas (Singapore), Union Bank (Philippines), Chow Tai Fook (Hong Kong), Raffles Hotel (Singapore),and Celebrity Fitness (Indonesia).

Although the 2018 Award Ceremony took place simultaneously in Singapore and Thailand, this year's event will be held exclusively in Thailand in honour of country being the chair of Asean 2019.

Over 150 executives from other Asean nations are expected to attend the ceremony, scheduled for 6 pm on November 19, at the Chatrium Ballroom, Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok, Charoenkrung Road.

What happened to the sugary muck in the red and white can? The chicken with the 11 secret herbs and spices? The greasy American burgers?

That's a rather pathetic list, appropriate for a country with a questionable future.

Good little lemming consumers, music to the ears of the chains. Looks like they're trying to solve the problem of ageing societies by croaking off earlier due to diabetes, too.

Wow, hostile - they're common brands in a modern society. I'm picking you're a boomer whose list includes:

Cialis

Viagra

Chang (only if served by soi 7 bar girl laughing at your stink jokes)

Plus whatever 2 minute noodles you've been left eating after building that house for said bar girl in her village then being locked out of it.

Calm down Sammy ... you need a donut ?

USA top brands - innovative, massively successful, overwhelmingly homegrown companies. Not malls and donuts.

The problem in Thailand is there is a small class of Sino-Thais who are happy to keep the country back so they can continue to use it as their personal playground.

It's intellectually stagnant. In fact, one might say it's anti-intellectual.

Where's Apple? I thought an iPhone was de rigeur amongst Thai millennials. Yet Acer does appear

Apples are yesterday's news, they don't make good enough selfies and that's all that matters in a "smartphone" here.
