BANGKOK, 12 September 2019(NNT) - The Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, is to visit the flood-hit provinces of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani to follow up on the government’s relief efforts.

The Government Spokeswoman, Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, said the Prime Minister and a team of officials are to visit Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani to meet with the local people on Sept 13. In the morning, the Prime Minister will follow up on a royally-initiated project to help flood victims in Tha Rua and Hua Trut areas of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The Prime Minister will then travel to a demonstration school in the southern province to distribute stationary materials and other necessities to students and the elderly. The Prime Minister will also pay his respects to the Buddha’s relics at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, the main Buddhist temple of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister and his official party will visit Samui Island in Surat Thani to observe projects being undertaken at Bhavana Bodhigun Vocational College. The institution offers students a free vocational education. The PM will then visit a poultry farm and pay his respects to the abbot of Than Nam Lai temple.

While in the south, the Prime Minister will observe the operation of Chaweng water pump station, and preside over the opening ceremony of the 4th Samui Festival, 2019 at Phru Chaweng to promote tourism on Samui Island.

A little tip for Samui residents: if you have nothing important to do, stay at home or on the beach, the police presence will be huge and traffic will be blocked for hours
