UK.gov update on long-stay in Thailand

Featured Replies

I received an update from UK.gov on their advice to long-stayers in Thailand.

"If you’re living or staying in Thailand on a long-term visa, immigration rules can be complex and are subject to change. At present, if you stay in Thailand long-term, you must report to immigration authorities every 90 days. If you change your address, you must notify your local police station within 24 hours. If you travel to another province for more than 24 hours, you must report to the local immigration office or police station within 24 hours, and again report to your local immigration office within 48 hours of returning to your home address. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the requirements of your visa. Stay informed and contact your local immigration office for more information"

The part I was unaware of was this:

"If you travel to another province for more than 24 hours, you must report to the local immigration office or police station within 24 hours, and again report to your local immigration office within 48 hours of returning to your home address"

I was aware that it was required to report on return home, but not that it was necessary to report to immigration at the destination of the temporary (24 hr+) stay. Is this new or did I just not notice it before?

The reporting of a stay in another province for more than 24 hours is not enforced. Aso it has to be reported within 48 hours not 24 hours.

That has been the rule for years.  As Ubon Joe says, I have never known it enforced.  We tried it a few years ago at the local Cop Shop, the Duty Cop looked at me as if I was simple minded ( he may be right of course), smiled and told us, 'not required'.

OP have you got a link to this so I can read it in full as I can't find anything like this on UK GOVT web sites thanks

Previously i faced with the same question - do i need to report local immigration when i comeback from a local trip? Imm officer said me - no notifications are nedded at this case (Chachoengsao). Only 90 days reports.
