"Chinese for free' no racism there then

Reminder: you've been visiting for free since forever.    Even more so: you don't need to apply for a visa before proceeding to the immigration desk where you're stamped in for 30 days.   Chinese people need to queue up for an hour adn even though the fee is currently waved, that's still a huge hassle.   And then after that they get 15 days.

Tell me again how you're discriminated against.

Really wonder what is so attractive for these people to come to Thailand? Besides the cheap sex there isn't much to speak of.

I talked with Chinese tourists years and years ago and then I understood.   And now my family income is about a third from Chinese visitors.

Also, every time I go for a trip, walk or drive through Thailand I understand.   If you only see cheap sex then that's a little sad, but to each his own.

Hmmmm.

One night, support several families, many months?

how many families? How many months?

Amazing.

I'm sure that the minister used the tried and true Thai bureaucrat method of determining these stats, lubricate hand, insert in butt, extract number. ????????

They shop. Products are unsafe for them to buy in China or too expensive due to import taxes, so they shop like crazy here. That’s why so many pharmacies and skin product shops are everywhere with Chinese names.

Thats a lot of TM.30 forms to file and store.

No, again, it is very far from the total amount spent by tourists.

It is 28% of spending captured by this survey, which is necessarily going to be quite limited in what it captures.

Hotel spend, possibly some types of restaurants, organized tours and activities, and shopping that happens to getting recorded because the Chinese religiously apply to get back every penny of tax they can when leaving. Those stats are relatively easy for the survey creator to collect. What a Norwegian blows through on a wild night out in Pattaya before getting arrested is not so easy to collect but, even so, it will support several families in Isaan for many months.

Westerners also like to shop, we even tend to be a little less careful with our money. We rarely apply for a tax refunds when leaving Thailand because, frankly, we can't be arsed. In general, we've already foolishly blown so much money while partying that it makes no sense to worry about tax refunds etc.

You are making a common mistake. You are taking the results of a limited survey and presuming that they map to reality, that what you have just read is the actual truth.

There are a lot of Chinese, sure. They spend a lot of money on certain things, sure. The real question is why all this wonderful new spending is somehow not helping the many Thai small business owners who rely on tourism

sorry man but you are wasting your time, Thais can't or don't to understand the real figures, they are  not god with economics, just look at the government actions about depreciation the currency

Generally speaking...

chinese go tour everyday, eat seafood, go shopping.

europe, sunbath on beach, pool, eat a sandwich.

How much Madmitch spend everyday?

Well, I don't know what BM Madmitch does spend a day, its also not my business anyway.

But I can tell you what PM Peterbilt spends, just to give you a clue .......

For this year I had (!) planned 4 trips to the Land of Scams. Two trips with a duration of 3 weeks and two more which should have been (!) 32 days long.
A standard 3 week trip has planned expenses of 200,000 BHT this does not include airfare, the 4 week trip is calculated at 300,000 BHT (also w/o airfare). Total planned expenses in TH for 2019 WERE 1.2 million Baht.... Thats me alone. One fat, old "farang". Okay, at least not a poor one.

Thats about 9,500 BHT per day. And most of this money goes DIRECTLY to the owners of small businesses and not to large tour companies like the money from the chinese.

Thanks to the ongoing anti-"farang" campaign by the immigration and the fact that theres no more value for the money spent, two already booked flights had been cancelled and the lenght of the remaining 2 trips was cut down to 3 weeks.
So due to immigration, xenophobia, racism, those ever present scams and the overinflated Baht, TH will only get 400,000 BHT from me instead of 1.2 million. Yes, I know that this wont hurt anyone in the Land of Scams, but its worth noticing, isnt it?

Instead of travelling to the LoS I visited destinations in Europe. Better value for the money, cleaner beaches, cleaner air, better food and drink and also a much shorter flight.

So TAT ambassador BM Yinn, please do not bother us here with more TAT lies and manufactured figures. And please forget about Wikipedia, it isnt a reliable resource any more.
Anyway, may the Land of Scams drown in herds of locust chinese and their money.
But their rulers should keep in mind that those chinese are not dumb. So one fine day those chinese will start demanding...........

I like the way they lump everyone from North, Central, and South America together. Because people from Peru and Belize will spend just as much as people from the US and Canada. Same goes for "Europe."

Entirely possible when you mix in Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Serbia, Macedonia, and the like to come up with an average "European spending."

The reason for this is their knowledge of geography.
But at least they know that there are other countries than Thailand, India and China.
I call this a progress....

That’s not what the graph shows, it shows how much each nationality spends per day. But when Europeans and Americans are at the bottom of the list with Africans above them, I’m highly suspicious of the accuracy of it.

Also, Chinese might spend more, but it goes straight back to China, not Thailand. The hotels, tours, nearly everything are run by Chinese so yes, tons of Chinese coming here is great to brag about numbers, but reality is it’s other nationalities that actually keep the economy afloat.

Just ask the hoteliers on the ground in Pattaya, Phuket etc who only recently said publicly it was the Europeans that they miss, and confirmed that Indians/Chinese don’t actually put much into the economy.

BTW, looking at the chart, it looks like there is no other place to put the Russians other than in "Europe." I'm sure all those free wheeling, spendthrift must increase the European average, say, by minus 50 percent???

Not rattling your cage K. Yinn, but can you explain how they calculate this? How do they differentiate what a person from China spends to what a person from Singapore spends?

Or is it just calculated from numbers of people from different countries recorded as entering the country based on imaginary average spending?

How do they work the average; a person arriving on a  budget tour package will not spend as much as say a person arriving first/business class staying in 5 star even though they are from the same country.

But again, that's statistics for you. 100% numbers telling whatever story they spin it as

The thai govt does not lie. Thai visa fanboys are toothless wonders. No facts just full of bitterness. Prayut has saved this country and he was democratically elected.

If u like Trump u have to like prayut and I like Trump.

Thai visa sex mongers and issan eating losers can go off to vietnam. I will stay and honor the red bull kingdom and cheapest liquor in the world.. king power. I love them all.

Oh, they'll hit that mark but it will be Chinese on the ZERO extra tours. The only beneficiaries will be Chinese owned businesses. The baht is going to have to depreciate substantially for tourism to legitimately hit 40M.

No real circus, but plenty of clowns.
