and besides that they are much more pleasant to be around and seem happy in their jobs

(Thai Airways....no comment.)

Singapore followed closely by Malaysian :D :D

I flew China Airlines last year, must have got the dregs of the cabin crew, miserable, fat old trout (the one on the other aisle was cute though) :o

Not flown Nok so can't comment.

I have to say that the AA trolley dollies are stonkin'. Nok not bad either. If we may extend outside the realms of Asia, the absolute worst have to be the other AA, closely followed by the miserable bleeders on Qantas. :o

Must admit the ladies from Garuda are a very hard act to follow, and the ugliest have got to be BA they seem to all be trained at the Bernard Manning and Rodney Rude School of Etiquette :D Nignoy

You must have never flown Northwest then. One I remember in particular. I'm not certain if you are familiar with the late comedian Chris Farley, but if so, imagine that in a skirt

I think American carriers (United, etc) have gotten so wrapped up in being politically correct that they only hire women over 45 and gays as flight attendants anymore.

Thank goodness it seems that the Asian Carriers still opt for the old formula

Yes, the US flag carriers are hard to beat in the frumpy department!

There was a Chris Farley look-alike on my last Northwest flight as well. She could BARELY fit between the seats when walking down the aisle! :D

The last time I was in business class on United in '06 they were making the rounds handing out water, champayne or orange juice prior to takeoff and when I asked if they had tomato juice the porker in my section gave me a good verbal dressing down, telling me in no uncertain terms,

"that will be awhile you know. All the other beverages are locked up until we are at cruising altitude!"

My personal favorites in the eye candy department:

1) Sing Air

2) Cathay Pacific

3) EVA

But I've seen a few stunners on Thai Airways in the past.

Yes what is it with this policy?

Qantas is terrible too,Most of the hosties are so old and fat they have to walk down the aisle sideways.

The rare attractive ones ,service movie stars in first class which is as it should be.

I recently flew Thai First class Sydney London and similar they were all over 45 females or gay men.

I think Branson has it right with Virgin.

Geez... if you want eye candy get a copy of FHM while you're waiting for your flight to be called. :o

I'll take a stocky old dame who can hold her own in an emergency when her fat old male passengers with the minds of teenagers start panicking during an evacuation any day.

Letting a woman in her 40s keep her job isn't being PC, it's just realizing that having someone who knows her job well when you have a dozen people responsible for 400 lives is more important than pleasing the lowest common denominator.

Actually, the ones responsible for the lives of 400 souls are sitting in the cockpit....and I prefer them to be over 40.

Actually, after the plane crashes its the flight attendants who need to be on the ball to make sure we get out safely. Id rather have an old hag with years of experience giving instructions in an emergency than a young blonde without experience.

I voted for Malaysian airlines as far as eye candy goes, but I feel alot safer on United Airlines where the cabin crew are old hags.

About 2 years ago a Malaysia 777 flying to KL form Perth Oz hit sever turbulance. The young, Muslim cabin crew didnt help the passengers, they got on the floor and started praying! How is that for making sure the passengers are safe! Even thought the pilots were still in control because the plane was flying, there were passengers hurt that needed attention that didn't get it because of the attitudes and beliefs of a young and immature cabin crew.

The thread is 'Nicest Inflight Entertainment', not 'Do you think stewardesses should be young and attractive or old and fat regards airline safety'. :D

As the chances of having to be evacuated in an emergency for any given fight are extremely low anyway, I think I'll take the birds thanks. If indeed she does go down then I wouldn't want some old bint getting in the way and/or having a heart attack... much better to rescue the pretty damsels in distress and be the hero of the day me thinks :D

I must admit to not having much knowledge of successful "post crash" evacuations , either first hand or anecdotal, Of course, Im thinking "crash" not "incident" . I suspect in the former, sheer fate plays more of a role in whether you make it out.

really who give a shi t what the the air hostestess look like? Its not like you are going to be taking them home for the night anway.

As long as they keep the beer coming I am good.

I love how you pricks complain about the airlines being politically correct, its an airline not nana plaza.

too bad they dont have some looks restrictions for passengers so they could keep you people off the flights.

Quite a few didn't make it out as well. A good number of passengers evacuating WITH their carry on luggage may have played a role. Flight attendants (assuming that they were still on the plane and weren't the first ones off) should have controlled that.

To me the important difference between Asian and US flight attendents can be summed up as follows:

The former politely request things they need/want you to do (put up the tray, sit down, etc.), whereas the latter order you to do things. NW long ago lost my business. They are atrocious with kids as well, but that's another story...cultural thing.

Attendents with seniority often like the Asian and European routes, so you get the oldest ones on those legs.

The change from youthful stewardnesses (is that word banned?) to older ones started in the late 60s, early 70s in the US. My father first made me aware of it when he commented that he felt like asking a stewardess if he could help her put a bag up instead of the other way around-she looked that old. Used to be they were canned in their late 20s, if married, overweight, etc. That is all gone now. Better of course for the attendents, not so much for the aesthetics...

Somehow I keep getting better looking as I age, but I realize that isn't true for most people.

There was an absolute stnner from Singapore Airlines on my flight from Bangalore last week and she was in the taxi queue behind me too - looked so good even on the red eye.

I found Nok girls OK but they were lazy gits - did not clean the toilets in Biz at Udon as it as below them and they waited for the cleaners in BKK to do it - Thai Air wanabee's who take 2nd best.

Last week from Pune to Bangalore the Kingfisher Air girls were stunning and their uniforms very nice indeed and always smiling - even female colleagues mentioned this.

Nok was my fave budget airline before but Kingfisgher blows them away with service and amenities - goodie bag, in-flight seat back entertainment, very nice meal, free juice, allocated seating and wonderful smiling hosties

You beat me to it - next visit i will insist on Kingfisher but not just for stunning hosties - their service was great.

Jet Airways were OK but the food was cold!
