Squeaky clean of course.

The arrested student has previously been detained in Sudan and had moved to Egypt because he could not continue his studies in Sudan

Wonder what he was studying? Doesn't seem like a very popular student destination. Probably 'religious studies' ie the koran.

The Thai student, who has not been identified, was taken into custody by Egyptian authorities on Sept 24 in Cairo after a video clip circulated online that showed him voicing support for an “Islamic revolution” in an interview.

Photos allegedly linked to IS were also discovered on his mobile phone, the Thai embassy in Cairo said on its official Facebook page.

However, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha played down any IS links and said he had instructed relevant agencies to follow the case and provide assistance to the student.

What relevant agencies? The Ambassador? The Thai spooks on the ground in Egypt? Or just more bluster from his good self?

Thai student with suspected IS link released by Egypt

The Thai student, who has been held in custody in Egypt by the country’s security officials since his arrest on September 24th on suspicion of links to Islamic State, has been released and returned to his family in the southern Thai province of Yala.

A well-informed source said that the student, whose identity has not been disclosed, was released on Sunday and immediately flown back to Thailand, adding that he had expressed his thanks to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, the Thai Embassy in Cairo and the Fourth Army Region for their help.

The Thai student was apprehended by Egyptian security officials after they found several images on his mobile device which indicated possible links to the extremist group.  He had also reportedly confessed, through an online TV show, that he supported IS.
