Banana7
More jobs will be lost in Europe than in USA because of these new tariffs. Lots of cheese, biscuits, wine and whiskey in USA, and countries outside of EU. Maybe those European producers could produce their finished products in USA, and just import some necessary raw ingredients. Products that are"aged" will continue struggling. I'm guessing there will be some changes in the EUR THB exchange rate, reducing THB per EUR.

EU has no grounds to legally retaliate with tariffs. It was the WTO that held against the EU and empowers the U.S. to legally seek compensation by setting tariffs against EU products. Of course the U.S. can chose to only impose a symbolic minimum set of tariffs or none at all. But Trumps claims the WTO decision as HIS victory and not setting damaging tariffs in response would spoil HIS victory dance. Any adverse consequence on American businesses as a result of Trumps tariffs is meaningless to Trump.
