My elderly friend was born in Thailand (Thai mother)

She married and divorced in US

She entered Thailand on her US passport,

She has a Thai ID card (which has her Family name written in English)

1;  I suggested she use this for extension but this seemed to not be suitable for IMM (her interpretation)

2; Get a Thai passport

She  has money ??? and she receives a pension ??from US.

Yesterday she went to CW who immediately fined her 500thb for 1 day late and said she can only have 3 months???

I will visit her over the weekend to see what IMM have done, hoping to be able to give her more options fro long stay

Thanks for any relevant info

Get a Thai passport, leave and re enter Thailand through an airport

Imho she doesn't even have to pay an overstay fine, but IOs at an airport might try to make her pay.

If she doesn't care about having to pay an overstay fine when leaving the country she can just ignore immigration, they can't deport or ban her, then when she leaves she just pays 500 THB per day (up to 20k max) as overstay fine.

She can get a one year extension of stay based upon having Thai nationality.

I don't think a old ID card that may be expired would be enough proof.

Does she have her Thai birth certificate.

Is she registered in a Thai house book? If not that will need bo done so that she can get a new Thai ID card and then a passport.

Thanks UJ I will check her ID tomorrow, she  bought a house some time ago using the ID card so I would assume she has the house book covered!!!
