The week that was in Thailand news: Thai life's a gamble - but U-turns are to be expected

News was late today. I thought maybe the governments fake news department closed down Thai Visa for reporting the dribble that comes out of ministers mouths.

Living in Thailand is a gamble in itself because you never know when they are going to pass a new law to get ride of the expats or to become more crooked. That is why I left Thailand and moved to Vietnam

Well

... to cross the street in Vietnam especially during rush hour you are definitely gambling with your life, and the chance that you are not going to reach the other side of the street unharmed is higher than in Thailand ...

When the accident is a fact then starts another gambling where the odds again is higher that you will receive less adequate treatment compared to Thailand ...

This is not my personal experience, but statistics based facts ...

Another good read from you Rooster. I am doomed never to be a Thailand Expat, as I

find the weather too hot from March to May, and even in late February. I am not fond of the mosquito diseases as well so that takes care of the Rainy season.  I miss Big Joke in the news, and find that Big Too is boring

I do hope that the baht will slump over the Winter months and make costs a bit

better for all.

Aaaah, I think you're wrong there, there is almost no chance of being run down while crossing the street in VN as the drivers are "aware" of you and are moving at about 15-20 KPH. Thank you rooster for a clever report on Thailand!

Thank you.

Don't worry BJ will make a comeback when the time is right. Meanwhile BT's idiocy will keep the masses amused.

Sorry to hear that you find it too hot....in Feb to May the feeling is mutual.

Don't keep your hopes too high about the baht. I suspect there will be more bad news for those with dollars and pounds to follow.

Aren't they all on motorcycles in Vietnam? Not a country I have ever thought about visiting even though my brother has worked in Hanoi for a decade.

Thanks for reading and the positive comment.

Funniest line: I gambled for 40 years but was not addicted see

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

One can gamble without being addicted just as you can drink alcohol without being hooked.

However, when it came to smoking I would admit to addiction. That required some serious willpower to give up.

Stopping gambling and seriously curtailing drinking have proved to be easy, because I was never addicted in the first place.

I don't know about your assertions re Vietnam but I have always felt good about medical services in Thailand whether private or in the govt sector.

On Sunday I had a tooth extracted. The treatment at the dentist that led up to the final decision to extract was excellent and fantastic value for money. My compliments to Lisa Dental who I would thoroughly recommend.

Glad to see the Baht on a good footings. A weak Baht my be good for tourists but for the country not good .Cant pay the foreign  debts in Baht , US Dollar is the currency. Its not the Baht that's high directly its foreign currency which is low in value against the Baht. Never mind, as you can see the Pound Sterling has risen over the last two days and will rise further come the end of the month. Good luck only change money into Baht what you need now. My money in the Thai Bank is in Pound Sterling in a foreign currency account and is changed into Baht when needed . The Bank will supply you with a letter(100B) showing the amount in Baht for immigration purpose.
