Do I first need to file the I-130 for wife's visa before we can go online and get that bar code, appointment code? I am living here in Thailand so would I take my I-130 to the U.S. embassy in Bangkok and then I can go online and schedule an appointment? We also have alread done I-129F and the other papework. This first step is rather confusing. Do I have to mail back to the U.S.? God, I hope not! Please excuse my poort typing skills in the title of this subject...

You don't take the I-130 to the Consulate, you take it to the USCIS office accross street. They will process and then send to Consulate and then you schedule the interview
